Ai Kayano is a Japanese voice actress and vocalist currently affiliated with Office Osawa.

__Biography:__
Kayano wanted to work in a job that would involve "healing people", leading to initially take up a course at a vocational school. She worked in the beauty industry and became interested in acting after having seen [Aria](https://anilist.co/anime/477/). While attending school, Kayano continued working in the industry and paid for her tuition.

Kayano began working at Pro-Fit in 2010, voicing two supporting characters in the original video animation [Princess Resurrection](https://anilist.co/anime/9159/). In 2011, she voiced [Meiko "Menma" Honma](https://anilist.co/character/40592/) in [Anohana](https://anilist.co/anime/9989/) and received the Best Rookie Actress award for said role at the 6th Seiyuu Awards. Kayano, [Haruka Tomatsu](https://anilist.co/staff/95890/) and [Saori Hayami](https://anilist.co/staff/95869/) performed the series' ending theme "Secret Base – Kimi ga Kureta Mono (10 years after Ver.)", a cover of a song originally sung by the band Zone.

She is often praised for her vocal range, having voiced a variety of characters such as [Mayaka Ibara](https://anilist.co/character/55137/), [Mashiro Shiina](https://anilist.co/character/61371/), [Darkness](https://anilist.co/character/89363/) and [Akari Kawamoto](https://anilist.co/character/24311/) for example, none of which one would connect to the same voice actress.

Traditionally, when a witch turns 15, she's supposed to go out into the world alone to study magic. Makoto's parents, however, believe that their directionally-challenged daughter should get a high school degree. Instead of being sent out on her own, Makoto and her cat Chito find themselves traveling from the bustling city of Yokohama to Aomori Prefecture, where they'll stay with relatives until Makoto finishes school. It's going to be a big adjustment, and it only gets more complicated since "normal" people aren't supposed to know that witches exist… something that she tends to forget.

Tiffany Lynn Grant is an American voice actress who is known for her English-dubbing work with the former ADV Films on such anime films and television series as Neon Genesis Evangelion, in which she voiced the character Asuka Langley Soryu. Grant is also known for portraying Nojiko in One Piece, Altena in Noir, and Ryoko Subaru in Martian Successor Nadesico. Although appearing in ADV titles, she was an independent contractor, not an ADV employee. Grant currently works at FUNimation and Seraphim Digital.

Grant enjoyed her role as Neon Genesis Evangelion's Asuka so much that she briefly reprised the character in the radio plays and fan-produced anime derived from the fanfiction series Neon Genesis Evangelion: R, as well as cosplaying as Asuka (in Asuka's familiar red EVA-02 plugsuit and her school uniform) at anime conventions.

She was married to [Matt Greenfield](https://anilist.co/staff/101497/), director, co-founder of ADV and also a voice actor. They divorced on January 4, 2018.

Makoto Kowata, a novice witch, packs up her belongings (including her black cat familiar) and moves in with her distant cousins in rural Aomori Prefecture, in the far north reaches of Japan, to complete her training and become a full-fledged witch.
