Asuka is the Second Child ('Second Children' in the Japanese versions of NGE), who pilots Evangelion Unit 02. She is from Germany, but with an American father and a half-German, half-Japanese mother. In the Rebuild of Evangelion series of movies, her name is changed to Asuka Langley Shikinami.

~!Her mother, Kyoko Zeppelin Souryuu, went insane after an Eva-related experiment and began to believe that a doll that resembled Asuka was, in fact, her daughter, to the point that she refused to acknowledge the real Asuka. Kyoko Zeppelin Souryuu committed suicide on the very day that Asuka was chosen to become an Eva pilot. On that day, Asuka promised herself that she would never cry again. This event gives her an innate hatred of dolls and all things that she perceives to be doll-like, especially Rei. Despite those feelings, Asuka shows no hesitation when required to cooperate with Rei when necessary, proving her to be committed and professional regarding her duties as an Eva pilot.!~

Asuka feels the need to verbally and sometimes physically lash out at everyone around her, except to her unrequited crush, Kaji, who is Misato's ex-boyfriend and more than twice Asuka's age. Potato is a stray dog who is almost always seen with Kirishima Kano. Its main purpose is mostly for comic relief, however it was the reason behind Kano and Yukito&#039;s meeting.     ~!During episode two while Yukito is performing his puppet show outside the local clinic, Potato is the only one who stops and watches. This leads to Kirishima Hijiri, Kano&#039;s older sister, finding Yukito outside of her clinic and offers him work doing odd jobs. Because Potato and Kano are very close, it is through Potato that Yukito and Kano meet.    During the movie adaptation of Air, Potato has a cameo in the anime Misuzu is watching. He does not however, appear at any other time.!~

Aestivalis pilot, she escaped from the L2 space colony when it was destroyed by the Jovians, salvaging four Aestevalis suits and fellow pilot Izumi Maki. The most fiery and combative of the three, but a surprise attack from the enemy left her terrified and crying out for help from Akito; this was noted and would be mercilessly brought up by Izumi and Hikaru many times, to her great embarrassment.    

Weapon: Garrote Wire    The sexy, straightforward, sometimes high-maintenance, short-tempered and somewhat nymphomaniac older sister of Tira. She is madly in love with Carrot (whom she more than often calls &quot;Darling&quot;), and literally throws herself at him. Often, Carrot is petrified of her and flees from her advances. Still, she keeps a close bond with Tira, protecting her when it's needed and fighting in her name more than once. She and Gateau are a separate team early in the manga, but eventually all five form a single group.    Chocolate is likewise a dominatrix, but is far more violent and savage than her sister, and is also able to turn Carrot back to normal in the anime &mdash; after beating him up even harder than Tira. Her main weapon is her garrote and she is incredibly skilled with it. It's suggested that her character was inspired by Lum from Urusei Yatsura.    Chocolate's dominatrix attire has a rather dark tone in the manga and OVAs in that she resembles a Nazi German soldier. Consisting of a leather cap (with the Nazi symbols of the eagle carrying the swastika as well as the Gestapo Death's Head), suspenders that barely cover her ample bust, leather pants and boots. (Her dominatrix attire in the manga and OVAs is also reminiscent of that worn by Charlotte Rampling in the 1974 film The Night Porter.) However, in the TV anime, her attire is more reflective of a biker: a slightly modest red leather bra top, along with similar leather pants, boots and cap (sans the Nazi symbol), with red gloves. At the end of the anime, after being reborn, Chocolate appeared in her manga outfit with her sister.    Even though she loves Carrot sincerely, Chocolate is a very jealous girl and is quite vicious and ferocious towards Carrot when she catches him cheating on her, and whips him mercilessly. Normally, however, she is very amorous and romantic towards him, always smothering him in deep love and affection, which is the reason Carrot keeps his distance from her between the two sisters. Chocolate often has romantic/sexual dreams of her and Carrot together. These shōjoesque fantasies usually feature Carrot as very well-groomed and debonair-looking, as well as often ending in Carrot making love to her; in which she often goes into romantic/orgasmic frenzies. Oddly enough, her own image in these fantasies show her to be either meek or submissive, which is a big change from what she truly is.

Called Kaorin by all of her peers (and one admirer who is most definitely not a peer), Kaori is a bright girl interested in Astronomy, Arts &amp; Crafts, ...and Miss Sakaki, a beautiful, but very reserved, classmate.  It is Kaori&#039;s great tragedy she is often too abashed merely by the sight of Sakaki to cultivate more of a relationship with the enigmatic object of her affections, but chance does throw the two of them into shared situations now and again.  At these times Kaori can be quite forward in her own way, especially when it comes to fending off any &quot;threats&quot; to her time spent with her heart&#039;s desire. Bonta-kun the mascot turned into an unstoppable fighting machine by Sagara Sousuke.  Fumo Fumo! Unfortunately, Sousuke managed to accidentally build it so it cannot function without the voice changer activated.  All that comes out is "Fumoffu!"

Lucia's guardian who serves as her guide. Hippo accompanies Lucia in her search for her pink pearl, and is among those who voice disapproval of her relationship with Kaito. He is also polite, always putting -さん (-san) after every name, even when angry. 

~!At first, he is shown as Lucia's pet penguin, but later on, it is revealed that his real form is that of a cute human boy, but he is embarrassed of how he looks since it's so different from other creatures of the sea. The protagonist of the series and the last living member of the Ashura clan, Ashura (阿修羅, Ashura?) was born after Taishakuten had killed his father and seized the throne. His mother, Shashi, at the same time gave birth to Taishakuten's son Ten-ō, and tried to kill Ashura, whom she believed must stand in her way to rule Heaven at Taishakuten's side. However, Ashura's powers protected him and enclosed him in a cocoon where he slept undisturbed for three hundred years, until Yasha-ō awoke him.    
    
Upon being freed from his cocoon, Ashura first appears as a baby, but grows rapidly to a child of maybe eight years. At first outgoing and friendly, he soon becomes aware of his cruel destiny, as Taishakuten has almost everyone with whom he has associated killed. Feeling guilty for their deaths, he vows to become strong enough to defeat Taishakuten himself.

~!However, Ashura has another side: He is, in fact, the &quot;true Ashura&quot;, the merciless god of war whose wish is the total destruction of Heaven, Earth and Hell. This side was suppressed by several seals, one of which is the distribution of his true power among the Six Stars, but is freed upon their meeting. Only his love for Yasha-ō, his adoptive father, finally triumphs over his lust for destruction.        As a punishment for his father's sin, Ashura was born genderless so he cannot continue the royal line of Ashura, which Ashura-ō so desperately wished to preserve that he tried to defy destiny. Languages which do not have a gender-neutral pronoun usually refer to him by either the male or the female pronoun; the choice of either is often a source of much contention. !~

~!In the end, Ashura chose to stab himself rather than kill Yasha-ou - as killing Yasha-ou would complete the prophecy and fully awaken the "true Ashura" and destroy everything - which caused Ashura to go into a deep sleep. Yasha-ou remained by Ashura's side waiting for him to wake up. Ashura finally woke up after Kujaku sacrificed his own life. Ashura was horrified at everything he had done, but Yasha-ou told him that he needed him.!~

Altena is a ranking member of the ruling body which governs Soldats--an ancient, secret society whose power clandestinely reigns over the globe. Not much is known about Altena at the present, but there seems to be a lot of opposition to her motives within Soldats higher echelon.    The focus of Altena&#039;s efforts lies within a project known only as Le Grand Retour. While the full scope of the Le Grand Retour project remains clouded, it is believed to have something to do with the origin of Soldats and the original purpose of Noir. Should Altena succeed, it is believed that she would have the power to reshape Soldats in any way she sees fit. This prospect does not sit well with the other members of the Soldats hierarchy, but their ability to counter Altena&#039;s ambitions remains wanting to say the least.    While Altena may seem to be a gentle, motherly figure, this woman certainly possesses a dark side that is reflective in her philosophy that &quot;If love can kill people, hatred can save them.&quot; This belief is the driving force which governs all of her actions, and she has instilled this creed into Chloe, whom she raised alone within the archaic confines of the Manor.

Ashura-ō is first introduced as the god of war and guardian of Heaven under the former Emperor, who died defending his lord against Taishakuten and is revered as a hero. However, it turns out at the end of the manga that he had, in fact, engineered Taishakuten&#039;s rebellion himself: Knowing through Kuy-oh&#039;s prophecy and his own visions of his future son&#039;s true nature as the &quot;true Ashura&quot;, he nonetheless wished for his son to be born. To change destiny and prevent Ashura&#039;s awakening, he asked for Taishakuten&#039;s help, which Taishakuten promised in return for his body. Ashura-ō married Shashi so she, one of the priestesses bearing one of Ashura&#039;s seals on her forehead, would be his mother, whom Ashura presumably would not wish to kill. He had Taishakuten seize the throne and rule cruelly, to prevent the Six Stars from gathering. As a last safeguard, should Ashura still awaken, he asked Taishakuten to kill him and eat his body, so he might become strong enough to kill Ashura.    In Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Ashura-ō is the king of the cold world of Celes. At the beginning of the manga, he is sealed in a magical sleep by Fay D. Flourite, who then proceeds to flee from him through different worlds. It is later revealed that he collected Fay from imprisonment from another world and brought him up. However, the Ashuras&#039; nature in RG Veda is mirrored in Tsubasa: Ashura-ō, too, has another side, and regularly goes on killing sprees among his subjects.  Kudryavka, also known as "Kud" for short, is a girl who is a quarter Japanese, and three-quarters Russian. Her grandfather was Japanese, and per his influence on her, she came to know much about the Japanese culture, including the language. She is very bad in English, though. She is Riki's classmate and is in the home economics club. Kudryavka has a pet Siberian Husky named Strelka. The hat and cloak that she wears were handmade. She spent most of her childhood traveling around the world, and her home country is a small, southern nation closer to the equator; this is the reason for her hat and cloak—she finds Japan cold due to her country's climate. Her favorite phrase is "wafū!"   

~!In the real world, Kud chose not to return to her home country. Her mother was captured and tortured because of the rocket incident; however this didn't happen in reality, but through Kud's imagination, to punish herself for not being there.!~

Nojiko is the adoptive older sister of Nami (the two are not biologically related but were raised together by Bellemere). She plays a major part in the Arlong arc as she reveals Nami's past to the Straw Hats and helps rescue Luffy with the help of Genzo after Luffy is thrown into the ocean by Arlong with his feet stuck in a block of cement. Her right arm is covered in tattoos, which she got to help Nami not to feel ashamed of her tattoo of Arlong's pirate logo. After trying to stop Nami from attacking Captain Nezumi, a Naval officer who tries to take the money Nami raised for her deal with Arlong, Nojiko was shot by him in the back. However, she survived. In the manga, she gave her bracelet to Nami. She appears later again, and is glad that Nami looks happy in her wanted poster.

The attractive and intelligent recruit to the Department of City Security, Matsuya is pragmatic and fiercely independent. She is also talented and vicious at repelling Iwata&#039;s frequent leers and advances. The manga reveals that she and Iwata were college classmates and that, to her embarrassment, she bears him some genuine affection. She grows closer to Iwata as the series progresses, striking him far less frequently than normal. The only time she seems to feel the need to do so is when Iwata is being idiotic even by his standards, such as trying to track down Excel by telling a young woman that he&#039;s looking for &quot;Naked women&quot;. Tiffany Lynn Grant is an American voice actress who is known for her English-dubbing work with the former ADV Films on such anime films and television series as Neon Genesis Evangelion, in which she voiced the character Asuka Langley Soryu. Grant is also known for portraying Nojiko in One Piece, Altena in Noir, and Ryoko Subaru in Martian Successor Nadesico. Although appearing in ADV titles, she was an independent contractor, not an ADV employee. Grant currently works at FUNimation and Seraphim Digital.

Grant enjoyed her role as Neon Genesis Evangelion's Asuka so much that she briefly reprised the character in the radio plays and fan-produced anime derived from the fanfiction series Neon Genesis Evangelion: R, as well as cosplaying as Asuka (in Asuka's familiar red EVA-02 plugsuit and her school uniform) at anime conventions.
