Sosuke&#039;s Arm Slave loving classmate. He shares the same amount of passion to AS as Sousuke and could be considered Sousuke&#039;s best school friend besides Kaname. His father is Shintaro Kazama and a secretary of Narashino&#039;s Assault Machine Troop. Shinji&#039;s love for AS began when his dad failed to become an AS pilot. Edward "Fullmetal Alchemist" Elric is a young alchemical prodigy. He is the youngest State Alchemist ever to be recognized by the Amestris State Military, having received the title at the age of 12. Ed's primary motivation throughout the series is to return his younger brother, Alphonse, to his original body, which was lost in a failed human transmutation. This was not an option as the race was to be held much sooner. This forces the Sugo Grand Prix team to go with Hayato as the driver for the license race over the team&#039;s driver at the time, Akira Hiyoshi. In the manga, Mutsumi first met the Sergeant Major when the Keronian tried to strike off on his own and turn the students of Saburo&#039;s school into his servants. The reason that the two get along so well is because they share the same wavelength. Saburo is a genius, who got a perfect score of 300 out of 300 on an IQ test, and is excellent at sports as well. He has a hard time fitting in with his classmates (especially the male ones) because of this. Although Mutsumi is extremely clever and observant, he seems unaware of Natsumi&#039;s crush on him. Chouji Akimichi is a childhood friend of Shikamaru Nara. Together with him Ino Yamanaka, and Asuma Sarutobi they make team 10. Chouji has a love for food, his favorite being Korean barbecue, general snacks and sweets, and basically anything that is edible. His nigh-constant hunger is a constant annoyance for his teammates, as sating himself often comes before other necessities such as stealth and teamwork. Because of this, his teammates often use food against him, such as offering him food as a reward for accomplishing a task or simply using his favorite foods as a form of blackmail. Despite his open display for his love of food, Chouji is very sensitive about his size and becomes highly agitated when somebody calls him "fat". Once called "fat", Chouji's resolve to fight is elevated to new levels and he becomes much more hostile to his opponents than he would otherwise. Just as they use food against him, Chouji's teammates use this personality trait against him as well. Should Chouji be reluctant to fight, one of them need only comment on his size to spur him into combat form.  As an Akimichi, Chouji's style of combat focuses on increasing his size. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and is best friends with all of them and values them over all else. At first glance, Luffy does not appear to be very intelligent, often seeing things in childish manner and can easily be amazed by the simplest things. However, because he views the world in a straightforward and simple manner, he is occasionally the only person who can see past the events and see what should be done.  

Luffy seems to have an unstoppable appetite, a characteristic that is common to the Japanese archetype of the (at times simple-minded) young adventurer with a heart of gold; perhaps the hunger more so in Luffy's case due to having an elastic stomach. Luffy is also another one of the several characters given the middle initial "D".  

Although Luffy is fairly lightheaded and a funny character, he has an unstoppable sense of determination, optimism and commitment and will do anything to stand up for his friends and comrades. Ever since consuming the devil fruit he was shown to be not worried about his inability to swim, much like his brother. Much of these traits are common among D's. Luffy never kills any of the villains, no matter how cold-hearted they are; instead, he frequently sends the villain flying, knocking them out or until the point that they are almost near death, which results in some of the villains searching for revenge, such as Buggy the Clown and Alvida. Author Eiichiro Oda explains that it's not a question of morality so much as a matter of punishing the villains for their crimes - he feels that killing the villains lets them off too lightly, whereas he considers letting them live to see their dreams be ruined a far more fitting punishment.  

Luffy has a dream, and to even have a chance at achieving this dream, he says that he must find the One Piece and become King of the Pirates. He knows that to achieve his goal, he will have to defeat many strong opponents, including the World Government and his childhood hero Shanks.

Yuuki's childhood friend, Zero is also a Guardian and likewise on the disciplinary committee. Yuuki has been taking care of him as her little brother since he was brought into their home (the Headmaster's). His family, a line of vampire hunters, was murdered by the pure blood vampire Shizuka Hio when he was young. He harbors a deep hatred for vampires and claims to have taken on the role of Guardian to learn to hunt them better. In truth, Zero was bitten during the attack on his family, and have kept the secret that he was a vampire from Yuuki until he was no longer capable of controlling his vampiric urges.  Zero's body rejects the blood tablets that most vampires take to control their hunger. Drinking Yuuki's blood helps him maintain his sanity, but he is destined to become a Level E vampire eventually. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, Johan Anderson (called Jesse Anderson in the 4Kids dub) is one of the transfer students who arrived at Duel Academy during Judai&#039;s third year. Johan is the representative from North Academy, and plays a Gem Beast deck which centers around the seven Gem Beast monsters, including his spirit partner Ruby Carbuncle. Johan becomes fast friends with Judai after discovering that they share the ability to communicate with monster spirits. Despite the lack of parents, Yuma is usually a happy and energetic child, who hates unfairness and cares about his friends. He never gives up and always shoots for the top. Unfortunately, he doesn't always make it. His goal is to become the world champion of dueling and has some of the cards he needs to do so, but, unfortunately, he is not a very good card player. Because of this drawback, he will often put himself in a tough position, such as facing against his tough future rival, Shark Ryouga. Yuma teams up with the mysterious Astral, who is conveniently a dueling genius. Even though Astral tries to help Yuma, he often does not listen because of his extreme stubbornness and wrongful pride. Although they have conflicting personalities, Yuma needs to learn to work with Astral, and put aside his pride or he will never be  a dueling champion.
