Kanna is a high school student in the same year as her friends, Tamako and Midori, and is a member of the baton club. She is the daughter of a carpenter who works in the same shopping district as Tamako and her family. A relaxed and laid back girl, Kanna does not care what anyone else thinks and is not easily swayed, however she does have a fear of heights.

Shiro is the main female protagonist. She's a genius NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) hikikomori (shut-in) gamer along with her step-brother, Sora and together they formed 『　　』. Between both siblings she is the calm and collective half which makes her the brain of the group. 

Schwi was the first Ex-machina to be introduced in Tet's story. In the story she seeks to understand the human heart and was found by Riku. She looks like a young human but with several differences, being two tails coming out from her back and other machine like features protruding from around her body. She bears many similarities with Shiro.

Her behavior is similar to that of a stereotypical artificial intelligence. She can absorb and process data and intelligence very quickly and act in the appropriate manner, a unique characteristic of her race. However, she seems to have difficulty in comprehending emotions and desires, otherwise characterized by her as the heart.

Tina is a product of Ayn Rand's mechanized soldiers and formerly her Model Owl Initiator.

Matsurika is Mariya's maid. She is generally silent but is usually quite rude when she chooses to speak. She delivers the vast majority of her lines with almost no facial expressions. The majority of her insults are directed at Kanako and Mariya. She refers to Kanako by such names as "Ms. Pig," "Eiffel Tower" and "Tokyo Tower" due to Kanako's tall stature. When speaking to Mariya, Matsurika often delivers sharp remarks in regards to his cross-dressing tendencies or sexual perversions. Matsurika also attends classes with Mariya. She also stays hidden from the rest of the students, and follows Mariya's orders when told.

Naru is a 14-year-old girl in her second year of middle school and has been best friends with Yaya since elementary school. She loves fairy tales and greatly idolizes the heroines in the stories. She sees herself as a girl who is average in every way possible, but desperately wishes to change herself to be more like the girls from the fairy tales she reads. She is timid by nature and is slightly jealous of some of her peers, including Yaya, Hana, and Tami, as she thinks of them to be more interesting than she is.

A 12-year-old girl with a strong intuition, who always accurately predicts the weather. Hotaru means "firefly".

Ille is Elle's sister. They both work in the giant casino in the "Howard Resort Hotel" wearing bunny suits. She's a bit slow, so she always ends up repeating the last words (or word-fragments) of what her sister said.

A rather petite girl specializing in film studies, she plays the role of young girls as a voice actor.

Minami is the leader of the second most influential clique in class 2F, and holds a grudge towards Yui, who she was friendly with in their first high school year, for being in the superior clique. She volunteered to be event organizer for the cultural festival in order to promote her worth without the actual ability to do such job, and thus requested help from the service club.   ~!As such, Yukino took up the role of assistant event organizer and claimed the spotlight in making the cultural festival a successful one, which in turn made Minami depressed about her own uselessness and refused to host the closing ceremony. However, as Hachiman's fierce scolding has successfully turned himself into the scapegoat and shifted the blame away from Minami, she attended the closing ceremony and ended the cultural festival on a high note.!~

A young girl who serves under Luvia as a magical girl. Her origin is unknown, except that she has a brother who looks similar to Shirou, and she takes on the Edelfelt name after being taken in by Luvia. She lives in Luvia's mansion and acts as her maid to earn her keep. She uses Ruby's sister Kaleidostick, Sapphire, in order to transform, and she initially has a much better understanding of her abilities than Illya. She takes her role very seriously and treats Illya as a bothersome rival, though they eventually become close friends.

Kureha is the younger sister of Kinjirou, who is a first year in high school and loves wrestling. She is a member of the crafts club. After watching and following Kinjirou and Konoe, believing her a male pervert cross-dresser, attacks Konoe to reclaim Kinjirou, only to be quickly defeated in turn. After this incident, still believing her a male, she has fallen in love with Konoe, much to Kinjirou's chagrin. While tomboyish most of the time, she tends to try and act feminine when Konoe is around.

She is one of Oda's soldiers who is very proficient in using the yari, a traditional Japanese spear. She is put in charge of watching over Sagara.

Mashiro is the female protagonist of the story. She is the resident of room 202. She is a world-famous artist who transferred into Suiko as a second-year to learn how to draw manga. Although her artwork is widely admired by the world, in spite of her young age, she knows nothing other than drawing and has an extreme lack of common sense and living ability. Due to this, Sorata is forced to handle Mashiro's living chores, to the point that he even has to pick out underwear for her, or she will go out without them.   
~!In the third novel, Mashiro starts to grow feelings for Sorata, and she even claims that she cannot live without him. In the eighth novel Sorata confesses his feelings for her and in the next novel, they are officially a couple.!~ Given her only academic strong point is art, she does very poorly in other subjects. Utilizing her photographic memory allows her to succeed in these subjects. 
~!It is heavily implied in the last volume of the novel that Mashiro and Sorata had a child.!~

Ai is a gravekeeper who is quite naive, but cares a lot about others. She calls Hampnie Hambart her "father" due to something her supposed mother had told her when she was younger, and decides to follow him on his journey. 

Main character of the story. She can stop time for 3 minutes a day.

A female Wizard serving in the Gillette Corps. She specializes in magic vehicles, and is the main operator of the Corps' personal vehicle "April." She has a crush on Albéric, but supports Viivi in her attempts to gain his attention.
