Kai appears in the series as a "bad boy". Takao and Kai hate each other at the very beginning when they meet; Kai hates Takao because he loses the battle in front of him and because he thinks Takao is very picky, annoying and immature. Takao doesn't hate Kai, as he only wants to be one of Kai's friends, but that proves difficult, because of Kai's attitude to beyblading and life in general. With time, Kai became a BladeBreaker accepting Rei, Max, Takao &amp; Kyouju as his partners.   Being a natural leader, he is the leader of the Blade Sharks (which he leaves), BladeBreakers, Demolition Boys (Neo-borg). Betraying his friends countless times, it seems that the only thing that Kai wants is power, though, later, his reasons morph into wanting to beat Takao and only him. Having a hard childhood and no social contact have made him completely cold and indifferent to other people, though he begins to open up little by little.    But mostly, he's the kind of guy that always stays cool and quiet. That proves to be hard with Takao around whom he later sees as one of his closest friends. He develops certain friendships with his other team members but all in all his best friend would have to be Takao. 

In the anime, Usagi calls him Motoki-oniisan and has a very big crush on him in the beginning of the series. He is also friends with Mamoru Chiba, who attends the same college he does, Azabu Institute of Technology. His girlfriend is Reika, a wonderful science student. He has a little sister, Unazuki, who is also friends with Usagi and the others. In the manga, Motoki holds part-time jobs at both the Crown Game Center and the Crown Fruit Parlor. He attends KO University. In the first arc of the manga, he recognizes the Senshi and learns their true identities, but promises not to tell anyone.

Toshiyuki Nishino was an anime-only character who appeared in episode 151. He composed music that he posted on a personal computer network that Ami stumbled upon, using the initials &quot;N.T.&quot; as his personal artist name. Ami wrote poetry that was inspired by his music, and finally met him in person when she saw him perform in a cafe.    Toshiyuki worked with his business partner and assumed lover, Kyouko, in a studio that gave piano lessons because of the little pay playing for an audience provided. Despite the work-intensive nature of both jobs, he enjoyed it because it was closer to his dream of being a world-famous composer.    When she met Toshiyuki and Kyouko, Ami was reluctant to show them her poetry because of the dedication to music the two of them shared, as she simply wrote her poetry for the mere amusement of it. However, he was targeted by VesVes, who removed his Dream Mirror after Ami left. When the other Inner Senshi intervened, Ami&#039;s desire to save Toshiyuki and her friends granted her new transformation and allowed her to destroy KeroKero Musume.

Like Nadia, Jean is fourteen and an orphan, but he has a completely different personality and interests. He is very generous, patient, friendly, and devoted to the things he loves, which are his friends and the love for science. He is also genius inventor, in fact he is capable of creating complex machines at a very young age.  Despite being somewhat awkward when it comes to social graces around the opposite sex, Jean is genuinely well-behaved and is nice to everyone--even Gargoyle finds something to admire about his courage and cleverness.  He becomes Nadia&rsquo;s closest friend, and later on, her lover, as a result of the unlikely relationship that develops between them over the course of their around-the-world adventure.  Constantly loyal to Nadia, his compassion slowly transforms her as a person, inspiring her to be trusting and faithful in others.

Having faced hardship since childhood, Tomo is sadistic and cruel. His mind is contorted and he is severe with others. It is said he was taken in by dancers when he was young, exposing him to the world of Chinese opera. This fact would explain why he wears a Chinese Opera costume. His parents are dead so he is responsible for his younger brother who he is fiercely protective of. Katou usually takes the position of being a leader because he has good authority, but is unable to hurt others which hinders his performance in the game of Gantz.  Masaru Katou was Kei Kurono's childhood friend. They meet each other again the day they die because Katou was trying to help a drunk off of the train line, with Kurono reluctantly lending him a hand.   

Daiba is the audience surrogate, the viewer's gateway to Harlock's world. The 14-year-old son of a scientist who was killed by the Mazone, he joined the Arcadia crew following the death of his father. He lost his mother in a disaster on the Neptunian moon Triton when her pleas for help were ignored by the indifferent government. The young leader of a yōrōzoku (yōkai-wolf tribe), Kōga wishes to avenge his fallen comrades who were slaughtered by Kagura, one of Naraku&#039;s minions. While brash and arrogant, he is shrewd enough to run from a fight if he thinks he can&#039;t win. He has a shikon shard in each of his legs which make him stronger and faster. Although he bickers with InuYasha constantly, when one of them is in danger, the other will lend a hand. He considers Kagome his woman, which irritates InuYasha to no end. Koga constantly confesses his love towards Kagome but Kagome does not share his affections, only having eyes for InuYasha. As the series goes on, Koga lets up on his affections for Kagome gradually. Eventually, in chapter 466 of the manga, he leaves her behind with the statement &#039;if InuYasha ever starts getting on your nerves, you can come to me.&#039; (&quot;Koga&quot; means &quot;steel fang.&quot;)

A young man named Nobuo Tanaka, who has come down with the flu. After receiving a flu shot at a doctor's office, he goes to work as a lab technician in a bio-research facility. At a colleague's insistence, he takes some experimental pills found on the facility's director's desk. The pills turn out to be part of a biological weapon program, reacting to the chemicals in the flu shot inside his body. Tanaka soon acquires a (literally) deadly body odor and becomes a walking weapon of mass destruction. After waking up from a nap, he finds everyone in the facility dead, though at first he thinks they are just unconscious. He reports the incident to headquarters and is instructed to deliver some papers and the experimental drug to Tokyo. The head of the research company and the Japanese military later realize that Tanaka is causing the poisonous gas and order him to be killed. Sanji is the chain-smoking chef of the Straw Hat Pirate Crew. He has superb fighting skills that only make use of his legs, in an effort to minimize damage to his hands which would impair his cooking skills. Sanji uses an array of powerful and varied kicking moves when he fights. His cooking skills are world class, and he was mentored in both cooking and fighting by Chef "Red Leg" Zeff of the Baratie. He was born in the North Blue, but grew up in the East Blue. Sanji is trash-talking and serious, and usually gruff and impatient, especially around men. This is contrasted by his "love-cook" side, as he is very amorous around women. Sanji is completely devoted to any beautiful woman, usually losing all common sense and composure in front of them, then attempting to comically swoon them. He has sworn to never let insult or injury happen to any woman while he can still stand, even if that woman is trying to kill him. This is often problematic in his fighting as he can't attack female opponents, and would rather die than hurt them. All this is apparently the result of a "strict upbringing".

His goal in life is to find the All Blue, a legendary ocean, which contains all the fish in the world. As such, it would be paradise for any cook with as much love for his work as Sanji, who holds great respect for the tools, ingredients, and art of cooking. So great is his devotion to his calling, that Sanji will not let any person or creature starve, regardless of them being friend or foe.  Being the crew's chef, he looks out for the health of his crew mates. Sanji respects Luffy as a captain, but often gets angry at him for eating too much, showing disrespect for the aesthetics of cooking, and generally being daft and irresponsible. He is constantly in petty fights with Zoro (sometimes calling him Marimo) over each others' traits and they have developed a rivalry, but have managed to make a devastating team together. He is very protective of the female crew members and Nami likes to take advantage of him, exploiting his extreme servility. Sanji originally wanted to cook Chopper, but has come to respect him as a crew member and friend. He's also good friends with Usopp; they team up and interact often, and Sanji understands him quite well. 

Dr. Tofu Ono is the local chiropractor and often helps [Akane](https://anilist.co/character/669/Akane-Tendou) and [Ranma](https://anilist.co/character/668/Ranma-Saotome) when they have bumps, bruises or dislocated joints from their many fights. He is very knowledgeable about martial arts techniques although he is never seen practicing. Dr. Tofu is also deeply in love with [Kasumi Tendou.](https://anilist.co/character/3665/Kasumi-Tendou) In fact, whenever he is in her presence, his glasses fog over and he becomes nervous. He has injured quite a few of his patients when this happens. Dr. Tofu is well liked in the community and has many older clients. For a time he employed both [Genma Saotome](https://anilist.co/character/9913/Genma-Saotome) and [Shampoo](https://anilist.co/character/2421/Shampoo) as assistants. He is often seen in the company of his skeleton, Betty, which he carries and moves as if it were a real person. At one time Akane had a crush on Dr. Tofu and he would often give her advice and support.

Yoh was born into the famous Shaman family, Asakura. He has a twin brother named Hao who is a powerful reincarnation of the original HAO who keeps getting reborn. For this reason, Yoh is said to be the only one who can defeat his brother, and he himself is, as stated in the manga, a half of the original HAO, thus has many of the qualities of the reincarnation before him. Yoh also has a fiance, named Anna, who he saved from her destructive power of Reishi (mind-reading put simply) which is helped by Hao's old cat friend, Matamune. Matamune, however, dies drastically after saving Anna's life, giving the last bit of his energy to do this. When Yoh was 13, he joined the Shaman Fight, with the reason to make his life a more comfortable place, for both him and Anna.  Yoh himself is a pretty laid-back type of guy. He gets along with everyone around him, and making friends comes easy to him. Although he may not seem serious most of the time, he actually can get really serious when needed to be. Ironically, his twin brother, Hao is a bit like this as well, and many of Yoh's characteristics overlap with his as well. Yoh however, seems to be a bit more sensible than Hao since he looks at things always in a positive light and has something good to say about everything.

Asakura Hao is the main antagonist in Shaman King and the most powerful shaman in the entirety of the series.

~!He was born Asaha Douji in Japan during the Heian era. During his third life he becomes the twin brother of his descendant Asakura Yoh. During his first life, he was constantly surrounded by the horrors of war and thus saw the world as a grim and dark place, until he met the small demon Ohachiyo, who taught him all the positive aspects of life. As he grew into an adult Hao became a relatively peaceful man who sought to help the people around him, and thanks to him the Asakura Family prospered. However, after an accident involving Hao's first Over Soul, Ohachiyo became a permanent part of Hao and cursed him with the very dangerous ability of Reishi. The negative emotions and thoughts of others were constantly overwhelming him and, since he was unable to turn his Reishi off, the deluge of negativity eventually created a demon inside his own heart. The internal confusion and disorder that was also created eventually led to his desire of creating a Shaman only Kingdom on earth and drove him to become the Shaman King in order to reach this goal. !~

~!In his third and most current incarnation, Hao is usually calm, cruel, and all smiles. The occasions when he is really angry are very rare and when he is angry with someone, that person is usually killed and burned to their soul by his Guardian Ghost. He also likes to watch Shaman Fights, particularly those that involve strong Shaman, and Asakura Yoh. He is not only interested in that, but also claims that when Yoh reached his limit, he will eat him to become the strongest Shaman.!~

Gourry is a wandering swordsman who meets up with Lina in the first episode of the television series. He accompanies her from then on. He carries the fabled Sword of Light, originally known as Gorun Nova before it came to the Slayers world.  Gourry is somewhat less than scholarly and appears to have serious memory deficit along with ADD, but his skills as a swordsman are unmatched throughout the franchise. A characterization of Gourry from his manga profile is "as loyal as man's best friend but not quite as smart." After he meets Lina he decides to become the "little girl's" unpaid bodyguard (despite his disappointment at his charge's lack of development), and they slowly get to know one another. Gourry's kindness (he spares the life of his rival Zangulus on several occasions), loyalty (absolute to Lina) and consideration for others is clear throughout the franchise, but is not as quixotic as that of the Seyruuns'.  While Gourry is deadly with plain steel, he is incredibly powerful when armed with his family's magic blade. He is the keeper of the Sword of Light, a mystic weapon whose steel blade can be detached, allowing the use of an alternate blade made of pure, destructive light powered by force of will. The sword can fell lower-ranked demons on its own and absorbs magic. If magic is cast directly on the sword of the light, the swords power becomes combined with that of the spell. Gourry takes great care of the Sword of Light, and watches it especially carefully to protect the valuable relic from thieving hands, especially those of Lina herself. Lina often tries to trick him into giving it to her by claiming he already promised it to her, but these are one of the few times where Gourry's less than astute (incredibly unreliable) memory is crystal clear. Gourry does allow Lina to borrow the sword in certain extreme circumstances.  At the end of the third series, Gourry gives up the Sword of Light so that it and the other light weapons can be protected. In the following book series, he acquires the legendary Blast Sword. Manipulating the magical energies around it, the Blast Sword creates an extremely sharp blade. If not treated with care, it can slice through its sheath, and will sink up to its hilt into the ground below. An enchantment placed on it by the party allows them to change its sharpness to be useful again.  Gourry eventually falls in love with Lina. Though he is not as shy towards the notion as the young sorceress, he apparently does not know (yet another thing Gourry doesn't know) how to make a romantic advance. Fergus was one of the only Pok&eacute;mon Trainers who was able to make it through Mewtwo&#039;s storm and reach New Island, along with Ash, his friends, Neesha and Corey. When Mewtwo revealed himself to be the one who invited all the Trainers to New Island, Fergus was the first to speak out against it, claiming a Pok&eacute;mon could not be a Trainer. He tried using his Gyarados to battle Mewtwo, but the Psychic Pok&eacute;mon easily defeated it. Dorio is a character of the week from ep 33.
Dorio was an arrogant and rude Trainer who went to great lengths to win the Big P Pokémon Race. He resorted to cheating, and hired Team Rocket to stage a stampede that resulted in his rival competitor [Fuko Laramie](https://anilist.co/character/33669/Fuko-Laramie) breaking her arm. While she could not compete, Satoshi entered in her place, riding her Ponyta.

He is the charismatic president of the student council of Katagiri Senior High School who is enrolled in class 3-3, the childhood friend of Kyouko Hori and the boyfriend of Remi Ayasaki. 

Sengoku is a rather shy boy who gets embarrassed easily and he is a very wimpy where the slightest thing will make him cower in fear, especially things to do with horror or insects. Sengoku is very smart and serious, normally ranked #1 in the school (and #2 in phys ed). He enjoys reading and has an incredible level of concentration while doing so, the point of ignoring everything else going around him.

He is generally not very expressive with his emotions. The sole exception is his anger or irritation, which he shows all the time as he is the Student Councils President. Even though he makes threats and gets angry towards those breaking the rules, he doesn't actually like doing so.

Sengoku is very insecure when it comes to his body. Thinking his slender body is embarrassing and always refusing to show it in various occasions, even going as far as to make up extravagant lies to get out of it. He wears multiple layers of clothing to hide his body type.
