Kaname is a Prism Star with unexpectedly high skills despite her young age. She is considered a genius, due to the fact that she can remember whole routines by only seeing them once.

Prism Stars are performers on the new popular ice show, Prism Show. They are superidols whose techniques, singing and fashion sense are a cut above all others. Aira and Rizumu are two Prism Stars whose goal is to become the best, the Prism Queen. However, the road to success is bumpy.

After graduating from high school, Kanae enrolled at the Amusement Media Academy, a vocational school for voice actors and artists, and graduated in 2007. Prior to graduating she was a member of two voice acting groups called Koetchi (こえっち) and Rirachitchi (りらちっち) before both groups disbanded in December 2005 and January 28, 2007 respectively.

Her first major role came in 2007 when she played the lead heroine, Amu Hinamori, from the anime Shugo Chara!. The show became a hit and Kanae was praised by critics. Since then, she has voiced Amu in other Shugo Chara! franchises including radio serials, drama CDs and video games.  

She and fellow voice actress Aki Toyosaki are good friends who worked together on several anime including Shugo Chara!, To Love-Ru, The World God Only Knows, Hanasaku Iroha and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (both also hosted the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun web radio show, Radio no Railgun). 

She was also nominated for "Best Rookie Voice Actress," at the 4th Seiyuu Awards.  

In January 1st, 2024, she announced on both her blog and Twitter account that she got married to a man from outside the entertainment industry.

Campanella - The Legend of Heroes Series (VG)

Three years after the events of "Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream," Aira, Mion and Rizumu have grown up and tutor a new group of aspiring idols: Karin, Reina, Mia and Ayami, who form the Prizmmy&#9734;. Teenage girls from Korea, named Somin, Shiyoon, Haein, Chaekyung and Jae Eun (who are the PURETTY), appear as a rival group. 

The new Pri☆Chan Land amusement park has opened near the Prism Stone shop. It is a semi-virtual world where the mascots of idol teams come to life, and even perform as idols themselves. Park manager Meganii announces the Illuminage tournament, where idols compete to become princesses of each area of Pri☆Chan Land, and at the finale one team will be chosen as Illuminage Queens. With the help of their mascots, Miracle☆Kiratts, Meltic StAr and other teams compete to become the Illuminage Queens.

PriPara Movie: Minna Atsumare! Prism☆Tours is the film based on and starring the characters from PriPara. The film first began showing in theaters across Japan from March 7th, 2015. The plot focuses on Laala Manaka finding out about Saints' top idol journey, and aside from the PriPara performances, the movie also features the journey of characters across all the Pretty Rhythm series.

At some point in the movie, the characters are given a choice of four doors to go through. At this point, the movie diverges into one of 4 routes depending on what the audience chooses. Each route recaps different aspects of the previous Pretty Rhythm series, mainly reintroducing the different characters and their performances. However, Laala and friends only get a chance to enter one door at a time, meaning the film must be watched four times to view each door choice.
