Fuko is a first year student at Tomoya's school (Technically, her age is same as Tomoya's), but she is always alone by herself, making wood carvings of starfish with a small knife to give to others as presents for her sister's upcoming wedding. Whenever Fuko sees something she thinks is incredibly cute she completely loses awareness of her surroundings, which Tomoya takes advantage of by playing a variety of pranks on her.   


__In Clannad__
~!It is later found that Fuko is actually in the hospital, still in a coma from a car crash. Everyone slowly starts to forget her when her health condition gets worse. Tomoya and Nagisa were the last to forget her since she spent most of her time with them. !~

__In Afterstory__
~!After accidentally releasing one of the light orbs, Tomoya unwittingly brings Fuko out of her coma. She has no memory of what happened, but her personality hasn't changed one bit. She is extremely fond of Ushio.!~

Tomoya is a bitter, third year high school student. His mother passed away, causing his father to resort to alcohol and gambling. Tomoya is distant with his father and has become a delinquent in the years since his mother's death. Walking to school, he meets Nagisa Furukawa who is a year older but is repeating the grade due to illness. She is alone, as most of her friends have moved on. The two begin hanging out, and as time goes by, Tomoya finds his life shifting in a new direction.

Mi Sook Jeong, joined KBS Voice Acting Division in 1984. One of her well known voice acting is Kagome Higurashi.  Although unrelated to anime, she played the voice of Reith in the PS2 game, Magna Carta the Tears of Blood.

A few months have passed since Tomoya declared his love to Nagisa, and his life keeps moving forward as he continues to meet a variety of new people, expanding his world in the process. While Tomoya's world continues to expand, his and Nagisa's relationship is entering a new phase, and neither of them is quite sure where it will take them. Through his relationship with Nagisa, Tomoya begins to understand the meaning and importance of family. 
 
But as Tomoya and Nagisa begin a family of their own, they are faced with many hardships along the way in Clannad: After Story

Okazaki Tomoya is a delinquent who finds life dull and believes he'll never amount to anything. Along with his friend Sunohara, he skips school and plans to waste his high school days away. 
One day while walking to school, Tomoya passes a young girl muttering quietly to herself. Without warning she exclaims "Anpan!" (a popular Japanese food) which catches Tomoya's attention. He soon discovers the girl's name is Furukawa Nagisa and that she exclaims things she likes in order to motivate herself. Nagisa claims they are now friends, but Tomoya walks away passing the encounter off as nothing. 
However, Tomoya finds he is noticing Nagisa more and more around school. Eventually he concedes and befriends her. Tomoya learns Nagisa has been held back a year due to a severe illness and that her dream is to revive the school's drama club. Claiming he has nothing better to do, he decides to help her achieve this goal along with the help of four other girls. 
As Tomoya spends more time with the girls, he learns more about them and their problems. As he attempts to help each girl overcome her respective obstacle, he begins to realise life isn't as dull as he once thought.
