Yuuji Sakamoto is the class representative of class F. In the series, the class rep position is assigned to the smartest student of that class. He is cool, collected, and exhibit surprisingly high intelligence and foresight unexpected of a student from class F. In volume 1, his strategies and tactics had helped class F to attain victory after victory, until the duels with class A in which he overestimated his ability in elementary school level Japanese history. Yuuji was once known as a child prodigy in his childhood. The only reason why he ended up in class F was because he did not study at all and he holds the strong belief that grades are not everything. However, due to the consequences he 'suffered' from his defeat from Shōko Kirishima, his childhood friend and also the top student of his level, he became motivated to study again, and in the later volumes, his Shoukanjuu became reasonably strong in just a few months due to his test scores improving by leaps and bounds. It is implied that he is actually smarter than his childhood friend, Shouko. After the tournament in volume 2, he acquired a platinum bracelet which allows him to control the size of the force field of his Shoukanjuu, allowing him to form a one-man army choke point since humans cannot pass through this force field.

He bears no ill intention towards Shouko, but due to her unyielding obsession with marrying him since their childhood days, he sees her as having a few loose screws in her mind, and fears to even think of his future if he does marry her. In the anime, its suggested that they act like a married couple though she tends to treat him as a slave. 

Yuuji is close to Akihisa to the point where they can actually communicate without any words. A gag in the series is that Yuuji will attempt to decipher a complicated expression on Akihisa and comment on a series of events that must have taken place. While he meant it as a joke, he is always a spot-on when this happens. His Shoukanjuu wears an outfit that makes it look like a punk, and is armed with brass knuckles. 

The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the "baka" of the title. His academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. A girl named Mizuki Himeji is actually one of the smartest girls in Akihisa's sophomore year, but she had a fever on test day and was pigeonholed into the F class. Besides Mizuki (who Akihisa secretly adores), the F class also has Yuuji Sakamoto, the class president who has been Akihisa's friend and partner-in-crime since the freshman year. 
The school happens to have developed experiments to summon fantasy creatures, and Akihisa decides to rally F class to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. The F class uses the summoned creatures in an all-out battle for school supremacy.

Tatsuhisa is a Japanese voice actor and singer, and he is affiliated with I'm Enterprise and Lantis. He is the vocalist of the rock band [OLDCODEX](https://anilist.co/staff/112151/OLDCODEX) under his stage name Ta_2, who also provides the opening/ending themes of many of the anime he stars in. He not only sings but also composes some of the songs. He also belongs to Style Five, in charge of the endings of Free! He also likes bicycling, karaoke, reading and video games. 

He is known for his numerous roles in anime series, his main breakout roles in the West were as Takao in Kuroko no Basuke and especially as Makoto Tachibana in Free!. He is not only known for his voice in anime, but also in video games. For example, he gave voice to Noctis (FFXV) and Alfonse (FEH). 

He is married to the famous singer [LiSA](https://anilist.co/staff/105561/LiSA). In late July 2021, it was reported that he was involved in an affair with a 20-year old fan. The next month he announced that he would suspend all entertainment activities due to poor health, later issuing an apology for his "irresponsible and inappropriate actions". His agency stated that he would gradually resume activities while recovering. In March 2022, his agency announced his full return to work from hiatus, along with another apology to fans.

Continuing where season 1 left off, everyone in Class F is bemoaning the horrible equipment they have. There is a school festival going on though, and if they make enough money they'll be able to buy better school supplies, and as always Akihisa is ready to do anything that might help out Himeji. This is especially important though, because Himeji's father is worried about her placement in Class F and is thinking about transferring her to another school.

The protagonist is a guy who is among the stupidest of the stupidest in the school. In this school, your grades can, under the supervision of teachers, take a virtual form to do combat! However, if you leave an examination half way, you get zero marks. A bright and cute girl, Mizuki Himeji, was having a high fever during the examination. Despite her potential to be the second highest scorer in the level, she obtained zero marks for having left due to her illness and is thus allocated to the worst class, class F. 
Grades mean almost everything. For Class A, they have a smart-looking teacher, a plasma TV as big as the entire wall as their blackboard, personal laptops, personal air-cons, refrigerators, adjustable seats and all kinds of different appliances. Within the refrigerator, there are all kinds of drinks and snacks. Their ceiling is made of glass, the wall lets them put up high-class drawings and plants. As for Class F, the worst class...They have Japanese desks and seat paddings. Their blackboard is dirty and there is no chalk even! Someone complains that the leggings of his desk is broken, so the teacher asks "Didn't we distribute some glue to stick wood together? Glue it back yourself later." Another complains that wind is blowing in from the broken window. The teacher says "I got it. I will apply for plastic bags and invisible glue to fix it later." There are spider webs everywhere, not a patch of the wall is clean. A unique moldy smell spreads across the entire room, it must be from the old tatamis used to tile the floor. This is the status of class F. 
The protagonist feels displeased at such an arrangement, and seeks help from his friends to try to make a change through summoning war!! And they devise all kinds of plans to try to beat the famous class A, intending to get class A's classroom and equipment if they win!!
