Tao is the last remaining descendant of the ancient civilisation of Hiva. He lives on the island of Galapagos in a tree house built by him, his father and his grandfather. His only friend on the island is a parrot called Kukapetl.    Tao is the brains of the group, he carries an encyclopedia which has the knowledge of the Heva people. He like to plan what to do before hand and doesnt like Esteban's 'jump in and think what to do later' way of thinking, but he follows him anyway.    Tao has lived with the legend, handed down to him, that a girl with dark eyes (Zia) will lead him to the lands to the east.    Tao is also brave which is not shown as much but to save the Mayan people he destroys the Solaris (a giant ship made by the Heva people which uses the sun to power its self) from the Spanish.

Tokyo Babylon: Hokuto is Subaru's twin sister. She is constantly teasing her brother about his relationship with Seishirou, and always has some crack about a wedding, which Seishirou always joins in on. She has an eye for fashion, and makes the most elaborate costumes.
X: Here she appears in flashbacks of the memories of Subaru, Seishirou, and Kakyou Kuzuki. ~!7 years ago Hokuto was killed by Seishirou Sakurazuka as exchange for her brother's life. However her last spell has to be fulfilled...!~

Her name, Hokuto (北斗), is the Japanese name for the constellation Ursa Major, whose brightest seven stars form the Big Dipper (Hokuto shichisei); it complements her brother's name, Subaru being the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster (whose brightest stars resemble a smaller version of the Big Dipper).

A young girl from a depressed Japanese neighborhood. She idolizes Yabuki Joe and joins him, along with a band of other kids, in committing petty crimes. She continues to believe in and support Joe throughout the story.
