In the second timeline, he is on his way to breaking free.  In the dubbed version, he is called Lanancuras and used to be one of the Guardians, specifically the one who oversaw the Milky Way. He turned envious of the power and prestige he saw lesser creatures obtain on their worlds, and in an effort to get this himself he invaded the worlds he was meant to protect, and he is the reason the DNA virus broke out on earth. Hannya is a pupil of Aoshi. The village he was born in was poor, so he was abandoned at birth to reduce the number of people to feed. Hannya survived, but he could not return to the village so he wandered around like an animal until Aoshi found him and gave him a position in the Oniwabanshuu. Hannya is the master of disguise within the group, an ability he gained by removing all his prominent facial features, which is why he wears the demonic mask on his face. As Aoshi gave him something to live for in the Oniwabanshuu, he is very loyal to him, he even disfigured his face so that he could easily disguise himself as anyone and gives his life to allow Kenshin enough time to retrieve his sakabatou to defeat Kanryuu and save Aoshi. Hannya's style of combat evolves primarily from his discipline from Aoshi. However, he adds his own bit to it by having painted his arms in horizontal stripes, giving them the appearance of being shorter than they actually are, thus luring opponents into a false sense of security regarding distance of attacks.

Wisdom is the guardian of the Prism Stones and lives in a parallel world for most of Futari wa Pretty Cure. For most of the series, he is simply known as the Guardian, and his name is only mentioned once by Ilkubo. Later he transfers the power of the prism stones into Porun allowing him to access a new power. This allows for the use of Pretty cure rainbow storm. He once got captured and was saved by precure but after that he got captured again in the garden of rainbows by the new seeds of the dark king's death and put in a cage with a parrot.   In Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart, Wisdom stays in th Garden of Light with the Elder and waits for the Queen to return.
