Grünemann was an Imperial vice admiral who served under Reinhard von Lohengramm at the Battle of Vermilion.

Beckmann is a tall man, standing at a height of 206 cm. His hair was jet black and pulled back in a pony tail 12 years ago in Monkey D. Luffy's hometown; in the current storyline, his hair has turned gray and is cut short. He is never seen without his rifle nearby or a cigarette in his mouth. He also now has a large, X-shaped scar on his left temple.

His outfit has changed very little over the years since his first appearance; he now wears a black, v-neck shirt with three quarter sleeves (whereas he is previously seen wearing a short-sleeved shirt of a similar color and design) along with loose pants (originally of a dark green color, but presently gray) with numerous pockets on them, tucked inside his buckled boots. Like most of the other Red Hair Pirates, he wears a sash around his waist, to which he attaches his rifle in a pistol-like fashion. The only thing added to his attire is his spiral-patterned cloak.

Beckmann has the highest IQ of anyone in the East Blue. Beckmann carries a flintlock rifle with him, but he has yet to fire it, instead using it as a club on Higuma's men and as a threat against Kizaru.

The dishonorable leader of the Shadow Channelers (Team Masho), he cheats to advance his team in the tournament and isn&#039;t above attacking his own teammates if they disagree with him. His attacks are based around earth, Armor of Clay (a defense and offense raise), and Spiked Armor of Clay (another boost), as well as a general control of the earth around him. He loses to a badly injured Kuwabara when Yukina arrives, motivating Kuwabara to unleash his spirit energy. Upper C class demon.

He is the President of the United States. He gives permission to form the SPK after having a discussion with Near. He is threatened by Mello with the Death Note, forced into giving him all the information he has on the SPK, and to keep him updated on what they are doing. He works unsuccessfully with L (Light) to infiltrate Mello's hideout. He's a strong leader, but powerless against the decree of the Death Note.   Hoope ends up committing suicide, and it is believed that Kira disposed of him after the special forces' attack failed.  In the anime, he does not commit suicide, as the character was merged with that of George Sairas (who is his vice-president).  Although he is president of the U.S.A in the manga, in the anime, the president is George Sairas.
