Toshio is the male protagonist of the series. High school sweetheart to Hitomi. Toshio always dreamed of being a police detective even when in high school, and upon graduation from Academy was assigned to the Inunaki, or the Crying Dog, District Police Station in the heart of Tokyo. While Toshio has wanted to marry Hitomi, he has vowed not to until he has captured the Cat's Eye (he has, however, made the first step and proposed to her).<br><br>While a bit clumsy and not very good at finding clues, his dogged determination and unyielding persistence has impressed his supervisors. Shinomori Aoshi was raised a ninja of the Oniwabanshū, who worked for the Shogunate government during the Edo period. He helped to raise Makimachi Misao from childhood as a member of the Oniwabanshū. After the revolution, since a few members of the Oniwabanshū were unable to adapt to life in the Meiji era, Aoshi and these members worked for the corrupt, power-hungry business man, Takeda Kanryū instead. Aoshi&#039;s subordinates included Beshimi, who specialised in darts and poison; Hyotoko, whose name literally means &quot;Fire Man&quot; and uses flint-and-steel teeth to breathe fire; Han&#039;nya, a skilled martial artist, deft ninjutsu practitioner and Aoshi&#039;s student; and Shikijou, a &quot;muscle man&quot;.  Aoshi himself remains an enigma. He rarely (if ever) shows emotions in or out of a battle. His weapon in the beginning of the series involved only one kodachi (in combination with martial arts). However, after his defeat at Himura Kenshin&#039;s hands at Kanryu&#039;s mansion, he dedicated himself fully to revenge for the sake of his fallen comrades. When Aoshi next appears, he uses double-kodachi, and seems to have fully disregarded his emotions in order to kill Himura.   They fight at Shishio Makoto&#039;s mansion in order to settle the score, and upon the battle&#039;s break, Aoshi realizes where he went wrong, and becomes somewhat of an ally.

He has dark brown hair, dark eyes, a long face with a square chin, and a mustache. Like the rest of the boys in the gang, Louis almost always wears a brown shirt with pink pants, a belt, a red hood, and brown slip-on shoes.

As the oldest of Dola's sons, Louis is more or less their leader. He is first seen capsizing a civil airship; right at the beginning of the movie. He tries to catch [Sheeta](https://anilist.co/character/8523/Sheeta), but she escapes by falling from the airship. He and his brothers are looking for her, but they stop and continue the search the next day.

Shin's friend from the orphanage. He grew jealous of Shin due to his relationship with Ryoko and tricked him to serve with the Asranian military—intending that he be killed in action. CEO Tsugumo picked him to be his successor in Yamaoto Air Lines and arranged for him to get married to Ryoko. In the manga, Tsugumo is forced to resign by shareholders when Kanzaki makes an underhanded purchasing deal with a shady jumbo jet manufacturer, assuring himself a large percentage of stock which installs him as the new president of Yamato Airlines. The jets turn out to be defective, causing an accidental crash which kills all aboard, thus opening Kanzaki to investigation. In the end, his wedding plans are ruined when Ryoko learns Shin's whereabouts after meeting Saki Vashtal and he is arrested for embezzlement, tax evasion, and his involvement in the plane crash. The OVA, having moved the end of the story to an earlier point, has Kanzaki simply being arrested as his final fate. In the 2004 TV series his fate was left unknown, though it can be inferred that since Ryoko ran away, the marriage did not take place, thus his shady deal was derailed. In the manga, the arrest is hardly the end of Kanzaki as he returns with a number of schemes until the end of the manga where he dies in an air duel with Shin.   (Source: Wikipedia)

When first introduced, he was talking to one of his henchmen, while Umagon was almost giving up on finding his partner. Then he thought that Doronma could be the long-awaited partner. The "Phantom Thief 'Doronma'" , as he is known for the policemen, used the innocent side of Umagon (and Gash in the anime) to make them help him to steal things for the whole night. After Doronma is captured for the police, he reveals that the partner that Umagon is looking for isn't he.!~
