Kamon Nandaba is Naota&#039;s father, a former pop culture journalist working as a freelance writer, with his own trashy tabloid: &quot;Kamon-Mabase&quot; (the title is a pun on &quot;come-on mabase&quot;). He makes the most references to pop culture: EVA, &quot;Monkey-sensei&quot; (referring to the creator of the series Lupin III), Hamtaro, Mobile Suit Gundam, and MTV to name a few. Kamon has taken a liking to Haruko, but she only wants to use him as an N.O. Portal. In the fourth episode, Naota discovers that Haruko tried to use him but &quot;his head didn&#039;t work&quot; and that she had left a robot replacement to putter around the house. The real Kamon is found dead in a cabinet but is brought back to life by being hydrated in a small bathtub. Haruko&#039;s true intentions of coming to Mabase are revealed through her interactions with Kamon. After realizing that his head didn&#039;t open the N.O. portal, she discards him and returns to using Naota, saying &quot;you&#039;re the only one who works&quot;. Like the other adults in FLCL, Kamon is extremely immature, normally more so than the other adults. But he shows a surprising amount of seriousness and thoughtfulness at some points in the anime

Isao Kondo is the Commander of the Shinsengumi. When not working, he is the stalker of [Tae Shimura](https://anilist.co/character/2944), earning him the nickname Gorilla-stalker. His superior is [Katakuriko Matsudaira](https://anilist.co/character/5972), a high-ranking government officer under direct control of the Bakufu. Even though the Shinsengumi are loyal to Kondo, he often has to use Vice Commander [Toshiro Hijikata](https://anilist.co/character/2650) to settle them down (with harsh words or use of violence) before conducting a speech. Kondo is good friends with Toshiro and [Sougo Okita](https://anilist.co/character/2282), and if one of them ever strayed, then the other two would punch him back to where he belongs, as Kondo once told Sougo. Sougo also often remarks that Kondo's nice-guy attitude is also his weakness as he never notices negative points about other people. In the Mutiny arc, he was described by [Kamotaro Ito](https://anilist.co/character/11458) as honest, pure and unsullied. In the same arc, Toshiro described him as the soul of the Shinsengumi, and the rest of them being the sword that protects him. Toshiro also said that everybody joined the Shinsengumi so that they could be with Kondo, and that as long as he was there, the Shinsengumi would not be finished.

When Kondo once asked Tae Shimura whether she would still love her boyfriend if he had a hairy butt. She became the target of his stalking when she replied that she would love her boyfriend just as much, hairy butt and all. Being a stalker of Tae, Kondo is often seen getting beat up or threatened by her, as she highly disapproves of his stalking and affection towards her. In the Yagyuu arc, Kondo had his mind set on being [Shinpachi Shimura](https://anilist.co/character/673)'s brother-in-law, even going as far as saying Shinpachi was the only one he could entrust the Shinsengumi to, much to Shinpachi's annoyance, answering that he doesn't give a damn about the Shinsengumi.

During his childhood, Kondo was a member of a dojo in Bushuu. There, he would soon meet Sougo and Toshiro, recruiting them both into his dojo. Kondo would later on take all the members with him and move from Bushuu to Edo in search for success, becoming what is now the Shinsengumi. Some characters in the series often call him "gorilla" due to his hirsute nature and although he is angered with this nickname, he sometimes uses the same word to identify himself. Kondo is loosely based on the historical Kondo Isami, famed for his role as commander of the Shinsengumi during the Bakumatsu period.

A Cyberphysician and Hunter warrior who once lived in Tiphares, Ido finds the broken [Gally](https://anilist.co/character/2308/Gally) in a junk pile in the Scrapyard, restores her and raise her like a daughter. In the beginning, Ido keeps his second job as a bounty hunter hidden from Gally, but she eventually finds out, and joins Ido in his hunts.

Shigeru Aoba is First Lieutenant at NERV and a computer technician. At times a stereotypical metal head, he is a nihilist and plays guitar (he can also sometimes be seen strumming an air guitar).  ~!In his implementation sequence, Lilith forces her way through his AT Field by bombarding him with a wall of Reis in which he screams in fear. She supposedly takes this tactic with his implementation because there is no one he loves or trusts enough to let his guard down, suggesting a possible layer of solitude and bitterness behind his cynical persona.!~ Again, his character is not explored in depth within the series. Kamina is a young man from Jiiha village who dreams of leaving the village and going to the surface, which he saw as a kid. He's very passionate about his goals, expressing his wishes through energetic speeches, which seems to affect all those who hear him. He convinces Simon to help him with his plan to drill through the roof of the village and get to the world above, but the plan failed and he was put in prison. He left the village shortly thereafter with the help of Simon and a young girl named Yoko, as a result of fighting a Gunmen, who broke into the village from the surface.  After he, Simon, and Yoko breakthrough, they meet many enemies and friends as they go, to the point of building up a resistance force, the Gurren Brigade to fight in their war against the Beastmen Empire who hunt on human beings who live on the surface​ and becoming their leader.

The thirteenth generation of renegade samurai, beginning with the legendary figure Ishikawa Goemon (石川 五右衛門). He has a sword called Zantetsuken (斬鉄剣), meaning "iron-cutting sword", which can cut through almost anything. In one episode during the TV series Goemon admitted that his sword cannot cut konnyaku, which is a starch-based jelly made from yams, because the blade just gets stuck in it. The Zantetsuken is usually used to cut inanimate objects, which Goemon considers unworthy of his blade and often mutters his catchphrase "once again, I have cut a worthless object" after doing so. Objects cut by Zantetsuken will fall apart a couple of seconds after he sweeps through them with his blade. He is usually quiet and participates in Lupin's exploits less frequently than Jigen.

He was both Tsubasa’s and Genzo’s top rival. A great guy, Hyuga is not only strong, but he is also tough but at the same time caring. Can be a bit impulsive at times, though. He was once famous because of his roughness and many players were scared of him. But, Hyuga is actually a gentle boy who cares about his family and friends. 

The leader of the Stormtroopers, whose nickname means "eyeglasses", he has a strong personality and generally directs the schemes of the Stormtroopers to gain Lum's attention (though mostly for himself). Though usually antagonistic towards Ataru, he often hangs out with him in his spare time. He is often given to rambling philosophical musings and outbursts, and seems to have an affinity for fascism and communism.

His real name is Victor Hartmann; also spelled in some translations as Hilshire (which is what he is know as in the show). An agent of Section 2, and Triela's handler and a former Europol detective, Hilshire prefers a hands-off approach to Triela and, like Jose, he dislikes heavy use of conditioning. During his earlier days as a Europol detective, he was denied engaging a child-torturing group in the frontline, as commented by his superior being "too naive" and incapable of handling the pressure. True to his boss's description of his personality, he could be seen whimpering excessively over a live footage of the torturing session, and became mentally depressed.

Ryu&#039;s best friend and the only son of the extremely rich Masters family. He lives in San Francisco with his parents in a very large mansion (it takes 20 minutes to drive from the front yard to the main house). He too spends a lot of time training as well, but not as much as Ryu. Ken also rides a motorcycle. His mother is Japanese. Ken also learns to use the power of Hadou later on while being held captive by Shadowlaw. Only Ryu knows the Hadoken, while both he and Ken know the Shoryuken. Ken later upgrades the Shoryuken to the Hadou Shoryuken, and then shortens it to the Hadou Shoryu. The "dear brother" of the title, he's a reassuring figure to whom Nanako tells her life experiences by letter . Takehiko is linked to Nanako by more than this elective relationship, and is more in contact than Nanako may imagine with some girls surrounding her and affecting her life.  He's a student at university, and his dream is to make an academic career abroad, especially in Germany. He's a quiet and serious guy, and deeply cares for Nanako.

He is the brother of Meixing Long and earns his bread by doing purification and exorcism.



A mysterious male teacher who develops an interest in Ryuko soon after she arrives at Honnouji Academy.

~!He is secretly an operative of the terrorist organization Nudist Beach, working to prevent Satsuki Kiryuin's influence from spreading any further. He also knew Ryuko's father before he was murdered. Has a tendency to strip, as fitting with his organization's name.!~

 __Dragonball:__  Yamcha, the notorious desert bandit, started out as an antagonist of Goku but quickly became his friend thanks to Bulma. He lived in the desert, which resulted in him never having much female contact. Whenever he encountered Bulma, he would blush immensely and become petrified right on the spot.  Yamcha's trade mark move was known as the Fist of the Wolf Fang. With this move, he would strike the opponent with his hands in a claw like pose with his middle finger, ring finger and thumb curled.  His best friend is a floating shift-shaping cat named Pu'ar.   __Dragonball Z:__  Yamcha's cleaned up his act as a desert bandit and become a member of the Z-fighters as well as a student of Master Roshi.  Yamcha gained incredible ki control as displayed in his new signature move the Spirit Ball.  With this move, he can guide a ki ball in any direction using his middle and index fingers. 

~!When the Saiyans, Vegeta and his henchman Nappa, first came to earth. Yamcha was the first to die after Nappa planted the Saibaman.  In the Android Saga, Yamcha was the first to discover Androids 19 and 20 and was the second to be harmed by them (after Yajirobe).!~

Kujaku first appears as a mysterious traveler that Ashura finds near the Yasha village after he falls out of a tree (supposedly from hunger). He comes and go at random but he almost always assists Yasha and Ashura's group, usually in the form of information, magical aid, or light babysitting. His powers range from the highly destructive to the prophetic. But his motives are unclear, and most of the six stars do not trust him. Yasha suffers him to stick around mostly because Ashura likes him a great deal; a sentiment Kujaku genuinely reciprocates. But because of his odd traits and purple eyes, he is accused of being a mazoku (a demon).
~!In actuality, Kujaku the son of the former emperor and his younger sister Sonsei-ō, who was also the head stargazer/priestess before Kuyou. This would imply that he and Kisshouten are half-siblings. As a child he manifested a daten (a third eye placed vertically in the center of the forehead) and a pair of black feathered wings as marks of the fact his parents committed the sin of incest. It is revealed near the end of the final battle that Kujaku has used his powers to attempt to change fate: He forged a sword which is connected to Shura-tō and so allows a measure of control over Ashura, Yama-tō, which he gave to the Yasha clan so it would pass down to Yasha. He explains that initially he did it out of curiosity, to see if fate could be changed; and then later was motivated by his affection for Ashura as they were both "unneeded children". Kujaku dies in the final pages of the manga after sacrificing himself to free Ashura from his sleep.!~

A Japanese character with a long history in America, he speaks fluent English, and frequently uses both Japanese and English in his conversations. He lives alone in a shack by the fishing pond. His skills and taste in music inspire Koyuki to take up the guitar. The band's creator, Ryusuke is BECK's lead guitarist. A once-younger Ryusuke and Eddie Lee stole the Lucille from the trunk of Syke's vehicle.

Macao Conbolt is one of the older mages of the Fairy Tail Guild, being 36. He uses a special flame, the purple flare, which cannot be blown off by wind or water. He's also very skilled in transformation magic, an ability which can even deceive an equal expert such as Mirajane. He's divorced and is dating a younger girl.
