 Living in his peaceful village like any ordinary boy, Raki's life is changed forever when most of his family is killed by a Yoma. When the "Claymore" Clare arrives in Raki's town to kill the Yoma, it turns out the Yoma camouflaged itself as Raki's older brother after killing the other family members. After killing the Yoma and saving Raki, Clare leaves the town. However, the superstitious villagers throws Raki out, fearing that he might turn into a Yoma himself after being so close to one. Raki follows Clare, and is eventually allowed to accompany her as her cook.  But the true hardships has not yet begun for Clare and Raki...   ~!He begins learning swordsman ship under Isley of the north to become strong enough to help Clare, and is shown travelling with a regressed, child-like Priscilla. Raki is shown wearing Claymore-like Armour and wielding a massive broadsword. He easily defeats a Yoma pointed out to him by Priscilla and displays remarkable reflexes and speed. It is unknown how powerful he is in relation to Claymores or Awakened Beings, though he is shown wielding a sword somewhat larger than the ones wielded by the Claymores one handed and easily deflected the youma's attack using his forearm armor.  Raki's dialogue reveals that he now knows Priscilla's true nature. Raki also mentions that Priscilla's small frame is probably due to the fact that she has not eaten any human flesh for a few years, although she is probably "at her limit". He says that, should she submit to her hunger, he will attempt to stop her but acknowledges that he will probably fail and be eaten.  Later on he is impaled through the shoulder by an iron rod contaminated with tissue from an awakened being. Though he is the only survivor out of the entire village where it occurred, an infection has started to spread through his body, threatening to change him into a yoma. From sheer willpower, he manages to keep a slight grip on his humanity and keep the infection from spreading.The Claymore organization later takes him back to their headquarters to analyze what is happening to him.!~

Renji Asou who is half German, half Japanese is a protagonist of the third chapter in Ef: The Latter Tale.   One day, when he goes to an abandoned train station where he often spends time, he meets a girl wearing an eye patch over her left eye and sitting alone. The girl is Chihiro Shindo, the younger twin sister of Kei Shindo.   Despite both of them being mutually shy, Renji comes back to see her at the station every day after school and quickly becomes friends with her. He later learns that she has a severe case of anterograde amnesia where she cannot remember anything past thirteen hours previous, aside from the events before the accident which she can recall perfectly.  Renji also finds out that her dream is to write a fantasy novel, but due to her condition Chihiro has never been able to get far. Renji loves to read novels, and after discussing it with Chihiro, he collaborates with her to see if he can finally make her dream come true.   ~!Through the process of writing the novel, the two eventually become very close and they fall in love with each other. As the story progresses and more of the novel is written, Renji soon discovers that the novel is an allegory for Chihiro's life and how she sees the world around her due to the state of her limited memory.!~

Fearful for his kingdom's security, Furon was manipulated by the Jester ten years ago into using Enlightened Evil (flash of the demon) to protect his people.   As a result, he physically appears much younger than he actually is, although this is officially explained as being caused by a disease. One of the distinguishing features of the monstrous looking armored suit that he uses in combat to conceal his identity is its blonde mane, and a bounty is placed on the suit by the Weapon Regulations Bureau for the death and destruction that Furon has caused while wearing it. After Rushuna destroys his armored suit and defeats him, Furon physically returns to his biological age. Back when he was controlled by England, he often lit firecrackers at festivals, startling England and thus getting a giant scolding by him.
