Otonashi lost his memory in an accident and thus thinks his life has no meaning. Things start to change for him as the story progresses. He is the main male protagonist of Angel Beats! Armaments Glock 19  

~!In episode 7, Naoi is asked by Yuri to hypnotize him so he can regain his memories. This turns out successful revealing he had a very ill younger sister who was his sole reason for living. After her death, Otonashi decides to become a doctor to cure others who are ill like his sister and starts to study frantically. On his way to take an exam, his train crashes because of a snow storm. This hints that he died at that moment. However in episode 9, it is shown he survives the crash and starts helping the other few survivors as much as he can, since he was studying medicine. He and the survivors are stuck in a dark tunnel and it is only after 7 days that a rescue team arrives. A few minutes before losing all hope, Otonashi signs a paper to donate his organs (and inspires the other survivors to do the same). Otonashi dies soon after, just seconds before the rescue team arrived.  Over the course of the anime, he is the first of the SSS to try and understand Tenshi (Kanade). In the final episode, he confesses his love to her. However, it is revealed that Kanade's reason for coming to that world was she was unable to thank the person who let her live on - the person that donated their heart for a heart transplant.  Kanade reveals that she knew it was Otonashi all along, stating that she realized he did not have a heart in the very first episode when she stabbed him.  They embrace in Kanade's final moments, and she disappears from the world. Otonashi, overwhelmed by grief, screams out her name. !~

~!In the last moments of the final episode, an Otonashi-like figure is walking through a city street. He passes by a figure resembling Kanade, who is humming "My Song" (the final song that Iwasawa sings before she disappears). As he walks by, he suddenly stops upon hearing it.  He turns around and walks after her, then runs and reaches out to touch her shoulder. The scene then fades to white, and the anime concludes. !~   

~! In "another epilogue," which is an alternate ending to the original ending of the anime; Otonashi is seen to have remained as the new student president. He faces another soul and inspires him to face up to their past. Though the episode is ambiguous, it is clear Otonashi had decided to remain behind the Purgatory whereas everyone has already left, as he stated in his final Dialogue with Kanade. !~

Pheles is the Chairman of True Cross Academy and also an Exorcist. After Fujimoto's death Pheles was ordered to kill Rin, however he accepted Rin's proposal in becoming an Exorcist and entered him into True Cross Academy. It has been heavily implied that he is the son of Satan along with his brother, the Earth King, Amaimon. He possesses the unique and peculiar ability of transforming into a small dog after counting down from three in German. How powerful he is has not been shown but he has mentioned that he is an honorary knight, the position two ranks below Paladin. He has been shown responsible for allowing several higher class demons onto campus. His name is an obvious pun on the word Mephistopheles, which is name for the another infamous devil, similar to his father Satan.

Kou is a 22-year-old man who self-proclaims to be part of the 'elite.' He is the first son of the Ichinomiya family, which makes him the heir of the family company. While others of his age are just your regular, everyday college students, he has already bought his own luxurious apartment, and claims to have made over 8 million yen within his short life.  From the day Kou was born, he has been taught not to be indebted to anyone. Therefore, his whole life has been obsessed by it. From wearing the necktie that bears his family's 'motto', to coming up with scenarios how to avoid unnecessary 'charity' from others. But his life quickly changes when he is saved by Nino. In order to pay off his 'debt' to her, he fulfills her wishes by becoming her boyfriend and moving in with her, thus leaving his carefree and rich life behind him.   When he gets nervous or stressed out, Kou suffers from a bad case of asthma, just like the other members of his family.  Like the rest of the group, the mayor also nicknames him, which in his case is 'Riku.' Riku is an abbreviaton of 'recruit,' referring to a newly recruited businessman.

He and Homura were children born with unique teleporting capability in the 79th district of Rukongai, Inuzuri, who were taken care for some time by Rukia. At one point, they were assaulted by a shinigami possessed by a Hollow with powers to possess souls and erase memories. to save had to absorbed the Hollow into themselves, were teleported into Hueco Mundo and eventually forced the Hollow inside themselves into submission.!~

The head of SYSNET who acts as leader of SIRRUT. Kuroto claims to have a grudge against Nanahara Fumito who kills his family and 'took away his freedom'. As a result from this incident, he is crippled and forced to use a wheelchair.

Yukimura's page, Rokuro is always found at his side. His clan has served the Yukimura Family for generations, and Yukimura places tremendous trust in him. He is silent and composed, but he often remonstrates Yukimura for his unheard-of behavior. His right eye is wrapped in bandages. But when needed, his right eye demonstrates the ability to record and seal away information, and if the information is extracted from paper, the words and letters fly off the paper and into his eye, leaving the paper blank. Also in emergencies, he attacks by emitting ultrasonic waves from his mouth, using his two triangular blades.

Zess is a soldier of Athens. Koji Minamoto is a main character in the Digimon anime series &quot;Digimon Frontier&quot;. In this series, a group of chosen human children were given the ability to turn into digimon.    Koji was the child chosen to wield the Spirit of Light. Koji starts the series as the group loner - a kid who wanted friends, but never had the chance to make any because he had to change schools too many times. Koji receives Ophanimon's cell phone message while he was out buying flowers for his stepmother. He followed the instructions on the SMS, which led to a subway station where a Trailmon took him to the Digital World.    Koji travelled alone until he met Tommy and J.P. and had to save the two from a horde of attacking Pagumon. From then on, Koji showed up to help the other Digi Destined from time to time, and then eventually joins the group permanently. He often distances himself from the others, refusing to let anyone get too close to him. This was revealed to be because he moved a lot, and believes that no matter how close two people can get, something pulls them apart, so he stops trying to make friends and be, as he puts it, 'better prepared for it.' Originally, he is rather cold and rude towards the other DigiDestined, but eventually softens up as he becomes closer to them.    Koji has a rough relationship with his stepmother Satomi, whom he insists is : &quot;Not my mom!&quot; As such, he is distant from his father, who often tries pushing Koji into trying to get along better with her. Around halfway through the series, Koji realises that Satomi wasn't trying to take his real mother's place, but only wanted to be a part of his family. Upon returning to the real world, Koji decides to give her a second chance.    Koji also meets his twin brother, Kouichi Kimura, for the first time in the Digital World. Koji's parents had split up when they were young, and his mother had moved out with Kouichi Kimura and their grandmother. Koji's father remarried, told Koji that his mother had died, and never informed him of his twin brother. As such, Koji never knew he had a brother, let alone a twin.    Ironically, Koji was the last to find out that Kouichi, in the Digital World, was only spirit with a semi-physical form (in the real world, Kouichi fell down a flight of stairs and went into a coma). Bokomon overheard the conversation between Kouichi and Crusadermon, and was forced into telling the others (Takuya, Zoe, J.P, and Tommy) while Koji and Kouichi were out of hearing range. A young man who sells information for his own enjoyment. He claims to love the entire human race except for Shizuo Heiwajima, and exhibits said love by putting humans in often miserable conditions and observing their reactions.  

He attended Raira Academy with Shizuo, Shinra and Kadota. According to Shinra, Izaya and Shizuo hated each other with a passion almost from the point they met. In the novels Izaya framed Shizuo for crimes on several occasions. In the anime he puts Shizuo in constant problems, such as gangs attacking him daily up to framing him of crimes.  

He is a master of parkour, and also quite skilled with his flickblade (the blade he uses must be slightly opened before the mechanics of it springs opens the blade - a switchblade will open on its own after the user presses a switch) as he is implied to be the only one capable of leaving numerous cuts in Shizuo's bartender suit after a fight in the novels. In the anime, he shaves a gang member's head bald without him noticing it. He is also fluent in Russian, which is exhibited in the final episode and episode 13 when he speaks with Simon.  

Izaya has two younger sisters, Mairu and Kururi, who are twins and troublemakers. He claims to have grown up in a normal family whose only abnormal trait was their naming habits. He does not like his sisters and find them to be unlovable, saying that if even he can not like them, he expects no one else to ever be able to either.  

His name comes from a combination of the biblical Isaiah and Japanese for "the one who looks over the crowd."  

In the novels, Shinra is the only person that Izaya doesn't consider as one of his "humans." Rather, Izaya considers Shinra as his only friend (which is rather rare). Though it was hinted that he also cares for Saki, despite his manipulation towards her. It was stated that he was like her guardian. He seemed to be genuinely sad when Simon informed him that she left Ikebukuro with Kida.

~!In volume 9 of the novels, Izaya treats Shinra as his only friend, letting himself be seen as guilty and put on protective custody for "stabbing" Shinra, which was supposed to be Nakura's fault. It is stated that Izaya greatly envies Shinra because Shinra's standards were far departed from any other human's, even including Izaya's. He had always thought of himself as being in a position to observe humans and therefore standing on a higher pedestal than those around him. But unlike Izaya, Shinra was living in a different world in the real sense of the word.!~
