Satoshi (known as Ash Ketchum in most international territories) is the main character of the Pocket Monsters anime. He is also the main character of various manga based on the anime, including but not limited to Dengenki Pikachu, Satoshi to Pikachu, and Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl. He is a Pokémon Trainer from Masara Town whose goal is to become a Pokémon Master. His starter Pokémon was a Pikachu that he received from Professor Okido after arriving late at his laboratory.

He shares his Japanese name with the creator of the Pocket Monsters franchise, Satoshi Tajiri. His international surname is a pun of the English motto, "Gotta catch 'em all!." 

In the anime, Usagi calls him Motoki-oniisan and has a very big crush on him in the beginning of the series. He is also friends with Mamoru Chiba, who attends the same college he does, Azabu Institute of Technology. His girlfriend is Reika, a wonderful science student. He has a little sister, Unazuki, who is also friends with Usagi and the others. In the manga, Motoki holds part-time jobs at both the Crown Game Center and the Crown Fruit Parlor. He attends KO University. In the first arc of the manga, he recognizes the Senshi and learns their true identities, but promises not to tell anyone.

Yuuichirou Kumada known as Chad Holdenford in the English version, is a ragged-looking young man who appears only in the anime, helping out at the Hikawa Shrine. In the English version, he talks like a surfer dude and calls himself a struggling musician.    His family is very rich and even have a lodge in the mountains. In episode 38, he takes Rei Hino and her friends to his parents&#039; lodge, where they go skiing. He falls in love with Rei at first sight, and decides to stay at the Hikawa Shrine so he could always be near her. Even though she does not show her feelings to him, he remains faithful and tries to protect her.

Shingo is the obnoxious little brother of Usagi Tsukino, making her the only Sailor Senshi with any known siblings. His influence in her life is alternately helpful and mocking -  he considers her well-meaning, but is a crybaby and a klutz. 

Shingo first appears in the first installment of every version of the series, but is not heavily featured in any adaptations and little is known about him. Though unaware of his sister&#039;s true identity, he is impressed by the media-hyped urban legends of Sailor Moon and Sailor V. He is a particularly enthusiastic fan of Sailor Moon, because she rescued him from Dark Kingdom forces fairly early on in her career. He enjoys video games, and makes good grades. 

Mamoru Chiba is the major romantic interest of Usagi Tsukino. He is often portrayed as stoic, steady and introverted. ~!This may be because when he was young his parents died in a car crash. This blocked his childhood memories of his current lifetime and opened up the memories of his previous life as Prince Endymion. Tuxedo Mask is a disguise Mamoru created for himself in order to hunt for the Silver Crystal incognito and, later, assist the Sailor Senshi in battle.  He is always addressed as Mamo-chan by Usagi throughout the series (Chibiusa also addresses him with this nickname later on). After dating for two years, Mamoru gives Usagi an engagement ring at an airport. The couple eventually gets married. In the future, they become king and queen of Earth and Crystal Tokyo and have a child together whom they name, Small Lady, but is in the majority of the series known as Chibiusa.  The manga develops Mamoru more extensively, showing that the car crash happened on his birthday and gives a glimpse of his parents. He also is given the power of psychometry, which also showed up in the anime, but was not given a name. This manifests in his ability to see and read dreams (such as Chibiusa's), heal people and monitor the status of the Earth. The anime tends not to develop Mamoru as much, however, he is shown to be more social than his manga counterpart. He's interested in a variety of subjects and is shown as smart.  Mamoru also has his left ear pierced in the manga, a trait that does not carry over to his anime counterpart.!~

Death Phantom, who calls himself Wiseman, is an immortal form of Chaos from the future. In the English version of the anime, he is called Doom Phantom.    In the manga, Death Phantom was originally a human who lived in the time of the future kingdom of Crystal Tokyo, and possessed dark powers which he used to wreak havoc upon the citizens of Crystal Tokyo. These powers were: his death hands; able to reach insurmountable distances to attack people, and his evil vision, capable of controlling the minds of others by simply looking at them. He was banished to the barren tenth planet, Nemesis, by Neo-Queen Serenity. Over an unspecified period of time, Death Phantom managed to merge his spirit with the planet and became one with Nemesis. He cloaked his decayed and crumbling human body, and reached out psychically to Earth in order to look for discontent. He convinced certain denizens of earth that the 30th century utopia of Crystal Tokyo was an abomination against nature, as all of its citizens were given immortality through the power of the Silver Crystal. Thus the Black Moon Clan was born.     Calling himself the Wiseman, Death Phantom lead their way into a near fatal attack on Crystal Tokyo, and then into the past of Sailor Moon's time in order to obtain the Silver Crystal and have his revenge. Death Phantom cares little for his pawns; he manipulates them and sends the young traitors to their deaths, and even kills Rubeus himself. When faced with a new conduit for power, in the form of Chibiusa, he fills her with dark energy and she becomes his Black Lady. When Demand finally comes to his senses and blasts the Wiseman with all of his strength, the decayed body shatters; but Black Lady only laughs, before revealing that Wiseman is Nemesis. When all of his followers are gone, and Black Lady reverts to Sailor Chibi Moon, he creates a dark energy swirl to kill the Sailor Senshi, Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon attack the planet with a Double Moon Princess Halation and he is destroyed.    In the anime, Death Phantom first approached Prince Demand when he was significantly younger. The Black Moon Clan were the descendants of traitors who had been exiled to Nemesis centuries before by Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion of Crystal Tokyo; and, posing as Wiseman, the Death Phantom manipulated them into gathering power for himself. He promised them that he could give them the power and ability to go to Earth and appeal directly to Neo-Queen Serenity to gain amnesty for the citizens of Nemesis, who had committed no crimes themselves. However, Wiseman's influence slowly warped the minds of his pawns until they carried out his plan for revenge and the ultimate destruction of the planet Earth. The Wiseman personally counsels Rubeus during his mission for a long time, but is all the same unconcerned about his death. He condescendingly humiliates Esmeraude when she comes to him asking to be the queen of Nemesis, and thus brings about her transformation into a hideous dragon and, ultimately, her death. He manipulates Chibiusa's childhood memories in order to make her into Black Lady. Wiseman then kills Saphir when Saphir realizes that he and his brother have been lied to. In the end, Death Phantom is destroyed, but Nemesis and its inhabitants aren't.

A tanuki adept at transforming. Travels to Shikoku to find the old masters. Later on in the movie he becomes their apprentice and marries the daughter of one of the masters.

Oolong is a shapeshifting humanoid pig, standing about three feet tall with pale pink skin, who tends to dress in trousers, button-down shirts, and suspenders. He was expelled from shapeshifting training for stealing the teacher's underwear and lacks the ability to change his form for more than five minutes at a time without a break. With his shapeshifting, Oolong can look like anything at all. Oolong's initial appearance was as a villain who terrorized a village and kidnapped their young women. Son Goku defeated Oolong and the girls were returned to their village. Bulma decided that he might be useful on her Dragonball quest and persuaded him to join their expedition. Eventually he becomes good friends with Goku and the others, and helps them to find more Dragonballs. He plays a large role in the beginning of Dragon Ball, but by the end of Dragon Ball Z, he just shows up from time to time. His poor shapeshifting skills (and innate cowardice) made him a very weak character that didn't have much to do once the tone was shifted to more serious action. In the anime and several movies, he appears quite often as comic relief. He is loosely based on the character Zhu Bajie from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West.
