Gyuumaou is based on Niúmówáng ("Ox-Demon-King", "Ox Devil Lord" or "Ox Tyrant") a character from the Chinese novel Journey to the West.   Despite his threatening name, he is really quite harmless and fun-loving; given that Gyuu is the crest on his helmet, it is incorrectly assumed by fans that Gyuu is his surname and Maō is his first. He was somewhat demonic and frightening when his castle became engulfed in flames on Frypan Mountain.  He wreaked havoc through the village at the foot of the mountain, threatening anyone he presumed would steal his treasure, until Kamesen'nin showed him the error of his ways. He is Chichi's father and thus Son Goku's father-in-law. Gyuumaouis very strong and trained alongside Grandpa Son Gohan under Muten-Rôshi's tutelage.   As the series progresses, Gyuumaou's role lessens in the story and eventually fades into being a background character, used only for slight comic relief. Gyuumaouis also the grandfather of Gohan and Goten. In anime filler, he has a few large roles though from time to time, mainly accompanying his family and the others.

Desler is the Leader of the alien race known as the Gamilas and the main villain of Space Battleship Yamato. It was Desler who masterminded the attack on Earth, forcing the humans to move underground due to the radioactive meteore-bombs unleashed on the planet by the Gamilas fleet. Although initially portrayed as a dictator bent on conquest seemingly for it's own sake, it's later revealed that Desler seeks to conquer the Earth in order to find a new home for his people, following the imminent destruction of their home-planet. Verg is one of Zorndyke's creations, and is the captain of The Phantom Ship.  His most prominent gene splice is that of a shark.  Verg cannot naturally speak human tongue, and has a voice synthesizer imbedded into his neck that translates his grunts and growls into human tongue, though his growling can still be heard over his synthesized voice.    As one of Zorndykes &quot;children&quot;, Verg refers to Zorndyke as &quot;papa&quot; and seeks his praise for his effort to destroy the Blue Fleet.  Verg seems to have little regard for the other creatures on The Phantom Ship, frequently lashing out and injuring them in his fits of rage, particularly the &quot;women&quot;, Mutio's species.

Cardinal Richelieu is the Prime Minister of France and plans to have absolute power by controlling King Louis. The thing standing in his way is Treville and the Musketeers, he spend the series trying to get the King to let his guards guard the palace which would give him total control. He has his pet raven with him all the times, probably because it annoys Widimer.
