Cliff is the son of a Plant engineer who purchased land with copious amounts of water on it and as a result, makes a good living selling water to the town. He portrays himself at first as a kind, caring older man with a sense of humor who only wants to protect the water and his guest Marianne. He even hires Vash as bodyguard to help.    ~!He later shows his true nature as he assaults Marianne, a Marshal that came to find proof of Cliff's monopoly of the town's water. It is revealed he only wanted to hire a bodyguard and call him Vash so the town could leave and no one would be around to witness the murder of the intruder. Cliff shows himself to be clever and observant (even mentioning to an infatuated Vash that he told Marianne to keep her curtains shut as an extra precaution, while likely knowing full well Marianne was the intruder as well as figuring out how Vash was dodging his shots). Tyson's grandfather and a living kendo master. He welcomed his grandson to his dojo when Yoshie died. He practices swordsmanship, kendo actually, and tries in vain to teach Tyson some things, but the latter has other interests. The elder Kinomiya is an enthusiastic and energetic character, although more civilised in the Japanese version of the anime (in the English dub, he is the "cool-yo" type). He sometimes follows team BBA around the world to support them during tournaments. In Japan, he also offers a home for the team.  In general, he mostly creates comic relief, but he also occasionally (and involuntarily) makes Tyson realise some important tips for beyblading, such as the winder lengthening trick.  For family reasons, Ryu's dojo also housed the sword-shaped stone inside which Seiryuu was trapped.  In G Revolution, he took the place of the fifth member on Tayson's G Revolutions team as "Mr.X". This was only temporary, because Tyson was looking for the appropriate beyblader to complete his team and Kai was nowhere to be seen, yet the Justice 5 tournament rules required for him to submit a list of players before a certain deadline.

Ruler of the Spirit World, King Enma is very strict and short-tempered. He punishes his son Koenma constantly for his incompetence in doing what Enma should have been doing himself.

Gonzo Tarukane is a very rich man who kidnaps Yukina. Sakyo ordered Younger Toguro to kill him. In the Filipino dub he is known as &quot;Don Paquito Quito&quot; which is most likely a reference to filipino actor paquito diaz, who is himself famous for playing screen villain roles.

Watari is [L's](https://anilist.co/character/71/L-Lawliet) assistant, providing logistics to the investigation team. Before the team is formed, he is the only person who has seen L, and the only one capable of contacting L directly. Like L, he represents himself with an Old English "W" on computer screens. He is also a fatherly figure to L. Outside of the investigation, he is known as Quillsh Wammy, a famous inventor and the founder of Wammy's House, an orphanage for gifted children in Winchester, England. Police Inspector Tawashi (a.k.a. Inspector Gumshoe) is a law enforcer and recurring character in the Tetsuwan Atom mythos. Known for his surly demeanor, Inspector Tawashi is a dedicated officer. And he hates robots.

He is similar to Inspector Geta in that both always appear as police investigators, and both are known for their dedication to their job. However, while Geta is known for his honesty and uprightness, Tawashi is most known for his suspicion of people. He is suspicious not only of Tezuka villains such as Ham Egg and Lamp, or of ambiguous characters such as Rock Holmes, but is even critical and untrusting of such figures as Astro Boy. The series which contains most of his appearances is Astro Boy, but he also has notable appearances in such series as The Amazing Three, Black Jack, Lion Books, Unico, and Rainbow Parakeet.

Police Inspector Tawashi is named for his most distinguishing facial feature: the fact that his mustache looks like a scrub brush, or “tawashi” in Japanese.
