The coach of the Shohoku High basketball team, and one of the best ones in Japan. Even the coaches of other teams call him "Anzai-sensei" with respect. His calm and collected attitude contrasts with the temper he had in the past, when he was nicknameed "White-Haired Devil" as a demanding college coach.  A talented player, Ryuji Yazawa, trained under him and was eyed with high regard by Anzai. However, Yazawa was unhappy about Anzai's tough training for him (especially the repetitive and strenuous basic technique training), and against the Coach's wish, left Japan to play in the USA, where he thought he would have better opportunities to show his talent. 5 years passed without any news, other than an unaddressed video tape showing Yazawa playing in a team, whose players had virtually no concepts of teamwork. One day Anzai learned from the press that Yazawa died in a high-speed head-on car collision, reportedly under drug influence. While visiting Yazawa's grave, Yazawa's mother gave Anzai a letter written 4 years prior, which Yazawa never had the courage to post back. In the letter, Yazawa expressed profound regret about his rebellious decision to leave, and the depression from his experience in the unsupportive American college basketball career. Anzai grieved deeply for the loss of Yazawa and resigned from college basketball coaching ever since. This also changed Anzai's former strict attitude to his now mild temper, for which he is now known as the "White-Haired Buddha."  Sakuragi always calls Coach Anzai "Oyaji" (old man) and has the habit of jiggling his fat when hyped, which makes the others - Mitsui in particular - mad at him, as this is considered disrespectful. Anzai, however, appears to tolerate this and has not reprimanded Sakuragi for his behavior. However, Anzai did punish the four players (Mitsui, Miyagi, Sakuragi and Rukawa) involved in the fight against Mitsui's gang, by initially benching them during the first interhigh tournament match against Miuradai High School.  However behind such an impassible demeanor is a brilliant strategist, who always knows how to turn the tide of a match for his team. Anzai like Haruko Akagi, realized Sakuragi's potential early on and decided to make him a starter even though some of his basketball skills were not yet par. Recognizing that shooting was Sakuragi's weakness, he made him make 20,000 baskets in a week to get ready for the national tournament. Anzai is also very charismatic and able to inspire his players to greater heights, as evidenced before the match against Sannoh, where he managed to bring down the insecurity within Miyagi, Mitsui and, to a lesser extent, Sakuragi. Although they were directly recruited by Coach Moichi Taoka of Ryonan, both Mitsui and Ryota turned him down, citing Anzai's presence at Shohoku as the primary factor. Mitsui respects Anzai the most, and once put a picture of him on the bench and prayed to it when Anzai was unable to come to the inter-high Shohoku-Ryonan match due to heart attack.

Zoruru is a gray Keronian frog whose left side has been replaced with metal implants, his left arm has an extendable blade, which is his primary weapon. He has an artificial eye in the place of his right eye, and the entire left side of his face is covered by a metal plate. For current unknown reason, he holds a grudge against Dororo and seems completely focused on getting revenge. During his platoon's invasion on Pokopen/earth he destroyed Mutsumi and Koyuki, as an attempt to provoke Dororo to come forth; however, Dororo revived them later by using his ninja powers to stab their ship. Zoruru finally meet up with Dororo at the end of the fight between the Keroro and Garuru platoon and Zoruru reveals that he never held much interest in the Pokopen(earth) invasion to begin with, only wishing to seek out Dororo in order to fulfill his revenge. Sadly, Dororo holds no recollection as to whom Zoruru is and tries desperately to remember his name, mistaking him for Girara, Dasasa, and Tosasa; assumed to be his former classmates. This causes great disappointment to Zoruru, as he wasn't even recognized by the very character who is well known to be ignored by many and he slowly fades away. When the Garuru Platoon leaves, Zoruru is in a position which is seen many times, Dororo's trauma switch.    After this episode, there is a running gag for him to be forgotten in one form or the other; such as, when he is the only one left out without an introduction in the special chapter of volume 13.    In Tokyopop version of volume 10 of Keroro Gunso, the letter R was written backwards whenever he spoke. This was however dropped with the following volume and his brief appareance in volume 13. Bason is the ghost of an ancient Chinese wujiang who serves Ren faithfully and obeys him without question. In the English manga Bason calls Ren &quot;Master Ren,&quot; while in the Japanese version he calls Ren &quot;Bocchama,&quot; which means &quot;Young Master.&quot; Later he became a valued friend of his young master Ren. His date of birth and blood type are unknown.    

Bason has served the Tao family for several generations and has sworn to serve Ren by any means possible. He carries a kwan dao (a weapon similar to a halberd, but with one curved edge and one straight edge following the line of the handle). In his days as an ancient Chinese warrior, Bason rode into battle on a horse named Hei-Tao; the spirit of Hei-Tao can be integrated into another horse kept by Ren, named B&aacute;i-Feng, to perform the Perfect Re-enactment of the Vorpal Dance. Bason is capable of adding tremendous strength and speed to Ren&#039;s kwan dao, and even making it quite larger, but also uses his body in attacks such as the Golden Punch. In Giant Spirit Form, Bason appears as a gigantic robot capable of launching fireballs.    

Like Ren, Bason appears very cold and cruel at the beginning of the series, however, following interaction with Yoh Asakura, Bason, like his master, begins to soften up and develop a much more pleasant disposition. He feels an overwhelming sense of duty to his master, even breaking down in tears when Ren is imprisoned by his father. While Bason and Amidamaru are very hostile and competitive at first, they soon become friendly rivals.

Macro is a Fishman pirate and the leader the Macro Fishman Pirates. He first appeared in Hatchan's Sea-Floor Stroll mini-series. Macro is a Fishman whose fish half is a fish called Macropharynx, a Japanese scientific name for Gulper Eels. His fish half is specifically the Gulper Eel classified as Pelican Eel. 

Akito's father is a business executive who works long hours and is seldom home. Although it seems in the beginning that he is a bad father, Mr. Hayama turns out to be a good father who was simply unaware of the bad relationship between his children because he was working too hard. After realizing Akito's suffering, and also becoming ill due to working too hard, he begins to spend more time at home. When Akito gets into various scrapes during the series, Mr. Hayama always believes in his son and supports him, even when no one else does. This could partially be attributed to the fact that he and Akito's mother were troublemakers in their younger years. Mr. Hayama is very mellow and soft-spoken, but the few moments he breaks out of his quiet mode are very funny.
