She is quite aware of her negative karma, and worries she's responsible for all the bad things that happen around her. No matter how bad things become, she always hopes it will get better.

She firmly believes that a lot of work and dedication will allow her to work herself into a good place. Hotaru buys several good luck charms and considers the Producer to be this for her as well.
