Kaoru is a stoic ex-surgeon doctor who is a perfectionist, taking his job very seriously and will do whatever it takes to become the top idol. He tends to come off as rude towards other idols, refusing to participate in conversations and activities that don't bring any benefit. Ginshi Shirazu is a Rank 3 Ghoul Investigator, a Quinx and the Current Squad Leader of the Quinx Squad. Shirazu, like most of his teammates, is shown to have great respect for his mentor, Haise Sasaki. However, this doesn’t stop him from going out of his way to execute missions without Sasaki’s permission, and so he is constantly seen accompanying Kuki Urie, the former squad leader, on dangerous assignments. Although he is a competent fighter with a ruthless nature, Urie describes Shirazu as a simple-minded person. 

He also seems to be quite exaggerated in his expressions and movements. His primary motive for joining the Quinx Squad is to get fast money for a purpose unknown at this point in time. Shirazu is also a quite carefree individual, and he seems to have an obsession for exterminating ghouls; both of which are traits that submit to the cocky grin he usually displays.

He is stated to be poor at tasks that require thought, such as academics or investigation. However, his consideration for others and attention to his surroundings convince Sasaki he has potential as a Squad Leader. In contrast to his loud and violent mannerisms, he is also someone that cares greatly for his team. Edogai first appears as an affable and professional young taxidermist, before revealing his side interest in working with human skin and inventing high fashion.
It is worth noting that despite his rather gruesome hobby, Edogai has not in fact killed anybody and is using the bodies of recently deceased miners he digs up from the local cemetery instead.

After the death of his mother, he began to hear her voice and the voices of other dead people and communicate with them as though they were alive. 
Edogai has shown to get very irritated if he hears loud noises while working, such as the slamming of a door.
