Genzo Wakabayashi is an extraordinary goalkeeper who can catch almost anything thrown at him. Not many shots can come past Genzo. A charismatic guy, Genzo is also loyal to his friends and he is firm with his decisions. Genzo always keeps his feelings to himself and people close to him as seen in Shin Captain Tsubasa, when he&#039;s willingly criticize his teammates&#039; performance in order to make them realize that football in Europe is different than what they play in Japan. His actions caused a lot of Japanese players to dislike him and Genzo only told Tsubasa his true intentions. From early childhood, he has aimed to be the best goalkeeper in the world. He tended to be selfish, and brag about his skills before he met and played a couple of games against Tsubasa. After his match against Tsubasa, he has learned to enjoy the game with his other teammates.

The series' main character, an experienced silver ranked adventurer who only concerns himself with hunting goblins. The jobs he takes merely involve goblins and he takes no interest in others. His appearance is not as glamorous or elegant due to using equipment that would seem lacking for an adventurer of his rank. He wears a gray suit of grubby leather armor, with chainmail underneath, a small buckler shield with a sharpened rim attached on his left forearm. His weapon is a sword of strange length, of cheap quality, which he carries in a makeshift scabbard, allowing him to place swords of any shape he salvages. Due to the excellent sense of smell goblins possess, Goblin Slayer has a habit of neglecting the cleanliness of his armor, as clean equipment would reek of metal, which would immediately alert his foes.

Stoic and calm, he seems not to mind the jeers the other adventurers rebuke him for his appearance which doesn't befit his rank. As he has little regard for matters that don't include goblins, he has difficulty socializing, since he lacks the ability to understand most basic social norms. Nonetheless, reserved as he might be, he does care about others, as evidenced by when he asks Guild Girl which other parties, usually entirely formed by rookies, have accepted goblin slaying quests, in order to judge if they might be able to handle the job or should he lend them a hand.

His style of combat favors more on pragmatism such as setting traps, using their own weapon against the user, and taking whatever advantage that may come. He even uses his own imagination of using a protection spell in order to kill all the goblins in a burning Elven fortress. The most defining trait of his is the hatred of goblins that fuels him and his actions. The reason behind this is how his family, which consisted of his parents and sister, and the entire village he lived in were cruelly massacred by goblins, which made him swear a vendetta against all goblins everywhere.

Since the moon is a desolate place formed entirely by rock, with no grass, trees or water, the goblins turned envious and jealous of what they did not have, which is why they decided to invade the lands of humankind. Katsuki is a crude, arrogant, short-tempered, and aggressive person, especially at the beginning of the series. Due to the constant praise of his abilities and powerful Quirk, Katsuki has developed a superiority complex, and because of that, he desires to be the first and best at everything. He loves to win above all else and cannot stand it when he doesn't, leading him to lose his already short temper if he achieves anything but a complete victory.

Katsuki is not only very athletic and talented at fighting, but also very intelligent and extremely perceptive, capable of strategic planning and improvisation. Additionally, his grades are among the highest of his class. Katsuki also possesses surprising talent in other areas, such as cooking and music, even though he doesn't show a particular interest in them. Overall, Katsuki is considered a natural-born genius with the potential to be one of the best Pro Heroes.

Katsuki's Quirk "Explosion" allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the palms of his hands and ignite it on command, allowing him to create strong explosions. The more Katsuki sweats, the stronger his explosions become. Not only can Katsuki use the explosions for attacking, he can also use them to propel himself and navigate through the air at high speeds, allowing him to fly at his opponents without giving them time to react, as well as evade incoming attacks, even while in the air. The shockwave from an explosion can even be used as a shield.

Alone is a young painter and also Hades&#039; previous incarnation. He is an Italian orphan raised alongside Sasha and Tenma, who later become arch-enemies. He is the purest soul on earth and believes that everybody has a good side and disapproves the use of violence, which is why Hades chose to reincarnate in his body. Green has a serious, calm, and focused personality in everything he does. Although Red and Green were once bothered by each other because their personalities are so opposite, they ended up resolving their differences.

Green and his Strike were trained by Shijima of Tanba City when he was a child. Thus, Green has some cursory knowledge of martial arts, and his Strike knew Generation II techniques.

Ichigo goes through with it, allowing him to make short work of the Hollow, and forcing him to fulfill Rukia's role as a Soul Reaper until she can regain her powers.

Being stubborn, short-tempered, strong-willed, and impulsive, Ichigo often claims not to care about what other people think about him, and attempts to maintain a detached and "cool" image. He generally keeps his face set in a near-permanent scowl, with his eyebrows drawn together. His outspoken, hot-headed demeanor is a trait Ichigo himself has acknowledged, and if somebody picks a fight with him, he cannot help fighting back. Ichigo's resolve in battle can waver at times, which can impede his fighting prowess, and he tends to go into a state of depression and self-loathing when he loses a major fight or lets a friend down. Despite what he lets on, he is genuinely compassionate and empathetic towards others, and doesn't mind helping others when they become upset, or need the support. He is always willing to fight to protect those he cares for, no matter what it is he would be fighting against.

Sugarboy is from Edolas and is the Royal Army Captain of the 4th Magical Division. He works for Faust in Edolas helping him in various ways such as hunting Fairy Tail, and seems to be very into statistics of things.  Sugarboy is a tall male with blue eyes and blond hair in a pompadour style. He has long sideburns extending to the ends of his face, and some stubble. Sugarboy has a very defined face and a noticeable cleft chin. He wears light red (pink in the anime), shiny armor with gold chain mail and a bronze belt, and what appear to be black briefs. He also wears a white cape with the Edolas insignia on it. When seen without a shirt, Sugarboy has a very muscular upper body.  Sugarboy can be seen as very goofy, not only in appearance, but also in personality. He can suddenly drastically change his facial expressions, as seen when fighting Gray Fullbuster. Sugarboy can notably do some strange things, without even knowing how he did it himself, such as gliding in battle. Sugarboy can be seen as over-dramatic in situations as well, such as when he saw Gray make a duplicate key. Sugarboy (シュガ－ボ－イShugābōi) is the Earth Land counterpart of Sugarboy and a member of the Legion Corps of Zentopia, who uses Dog Whistle Magic as his form of magic.  Dog Whistle Magic makes Sugarboy's body lets free a large amount of green sticky mucus, which oozes from his clothes and quickly expands to form a large mass. The globules are described as having a mind of their own, and Sugarboy refers to the ooze as his "Hound Dogs". When touched, the phlegm surrounds and engulfs the person, trapping them and stopping them from being able to perform Magic. The gloop has also been shown to consume Magic, "eating" up the attacks of many Mages. Sugarboy claims that his "Hound Dogs" enjoy eating different types of Magic, but that they especially enjoyed Natsu's flames. The ooze has been shown to take on many shapes, such a forming a hand to pick up and throw around Sugarboy's enemies. When Sugarboy has finished his attacks, the Magic has an almost reverse retreat, being sucked back into Sugarboy's clothing. After being touched by the ooze, the victim appears to become fatigued and drained of Magic power, falling to the ground in a sleep-like manner.  Most likely gay for Gray Fullbuster. He was the most powerful offspring of the Chimera Ant Queen. He was known as the "__King__" (王, Ō) of the Chimera Ants, and served as the main antagonist of the Chimera Ant arc.

~!Meruem is first seen when he violently rips through the womb of the [Chimera Ant Queen](https://anilist.co/character/83183/Chimera-Ant-Queen) from the inside, ready to emerge into the world and unwilling to wait for a natural birth. Shortly after his birth, Meruem leaves the hive and NGL with the Royal Guards, in search of a place to start his kingdom. He descends on the Republic of East Gorteau and takes over over the country by killing its dictator, Ming Jol-ik. Meruem then uses Jol-ik's corpse as a puppet to order East Gorteau's population of approximately five million to gather simultaneously in the capital city for a national rally. This however, is a ruse, designed to create a situation where entire towns and villages could be secretly abducted for a "selection", the forcible awakening of nen, without their disappearance being noticed.

Meruem's eventual plan was to take the one percent of the population that would survive such an awakening and turn them into soldiers for an army he will use to conquer the world. This plan is temporarily disrupted by [Killua](https://anilist.co/character/27/Killua-Zoldyck), who assassinates a number of "selectors", but a backup plan is soon implemented; East Gorteau is put under martial law, and the population undergo selection in their own homes, though this slows down the process considerably, and only 500,000 people are processed, with 5,000 predicted survivors. Soon after this occurs, the Hunters [Netero](https://anilist.co/character/14489/Isaac-Netero), [Morel](https://anilist.co/character/29806/Morel-Mackernasey), [Knuckle](https://anilist.co/character/29809/Knuckle-Bine), [Shoot](https://anilist.co/character/29807/Shoot-McMahon), Killua, and [Gon](https://anilist.co/character/30/Gon-Freecss) attack the palace, with the intention of separating the Royal Guards from Meruem and assassinating him.

Meruem's initial personality, when he his first shown in the story, is that of arrogance. The Queen's intention to give birth to a perfect offspring is reflected in Meruem's mentality. He considered himself superior to all other forms of life and felt no concern for his dying mother after his "birth." Meruem was also merciless, instantly killing any chimera ant he considered disrespectful. Meruem was seen killing and eating other chimera ants, something no other chimera ant had ever done.

After reaching East Gorteau and putting his plans into motion, Meruem took an interest in various board games, and gathered various champion-level players to his palace. Simply by reading the rule books, Meruem was able to master any game in under ten matches, simultaneously learning from his opponents while disrupting the "flow" of their play style. After defeating the best player for each game, Meruem proceeded to kill them, as they were of no further use to him.

The final game Meruem learns is Gungi, a fictional shogi-like board game invented by East Gorteau. The world champion for the game is Komugi, a seemingly dimwitted blind girl; However, as Meruem played against her, he found himself unable to disrupt her flow, while at the same time, the challenge of playing against Meruem caused [Komugi](https://anilist.co/character/14313/Komugi)'s skills to increase. Much to the shock of the Royal Guards, Meruem even starts show respect for Komugi and concern for Komugi's well being. In one instance Meruem rips his left arm off, as an apology to Komugi for asking her to bet her left arm on a game, to which she replied that she always bet her life. In another instance, after watching Komugi's nen suddenly awaken, and realizing she would grow exponentially stronger, but only in terms of Gungi, Meruem momentarily decides that his power of "violence" was the strongest type of strength, and ultimately Komugi's abilities are meaningless; Yet, moments after this decision, Meruem finds Komugi under attack by a large bird of prey, and is unable to bring himself to do anything except protect her, ultimately unable to understand his own emotions toward Komugi. This leaves Meruem in a contemplative state, wondering about the purpose for his existence in the world.

As of chapter 290 of the manga, Meruem is preparing to battle Netero, who attacked his castle in order to assassinate him. Before the battle, Komugi is gravely injured by a nen ability meant to cause confusion within the palace, and Meruem orders [Neferpitou](https://anilist.co/character/12300/Neferpitou) to save her life. The way Meruem is drawn in this scene suggests he has learned what it means to have concern for someone else's well being.

He and Netero then travel to a remote location that was once used for military weapons testing, so that they may both go all out in their fight. However, in a surprising twist, Meruem refuses to fight the Hunter. Through a short conversation between the two, the King reveals that he finally realizes that he should use his power to protect the weak, seeing from Komugi that there are humans who deserve to live; Netero counted among them. He also expresses a desire to remake the world so that everyone is so equal, the term "equality" would become obsolete. Netero realizes that Meruem is dangerously caught between his Ant instincts and his humanity, and at this point, either facet of his psyche could win out. Knowing that he has a mission to carry out regardless, and not wanting his heart to waver, Netero suddenly assaults Meruem first with a devastating attack.

Meruem possesses a nen ability that allows him to absorb the raw aura of nen-users he has killed. By devouring their brain, he adds their aura to his own--further increasing his power. His fighting ability is such that even Netero, chairman of the Hunter committee, expresses doubt that he could defeat him.!~

Gen Asagiri is an enemy turned ally of Senku. Originally de-petrified by Tsukasa Shishio, he was sent to find Senku, only to defect to the Kingdom of Science. Gen later becomes one of the Five Wise Generals.

He is somewhat full of himself and his abilities, taking pride in his status as a magician and a mentalist, along with his knowledge of the human psyche. Gen is rather quirky and can often be seen speaking in Pig Latin. He tends to be lazy, self absorbed, and perverted, and he is also perfectly capable of lying without a hint of stress or change in expression. While he frequently portrays an aura of selfishness, hard self-interest, manipulation and deviousness, Gen is intrinsically a good person who can't bring himself to harm others. His outward appearance is masked by his mastery in psychology, but his actions tell of loyalty, determination, kindness and even sacrifice at times.

While not nearly as intelligent in terms of science compared to Senku, he proves to be his equal and one of his most vital allies due to his ability to understand the human psyche and manipulate people through lies in contrast to Senku's more honest nature. He uses his abilities to promote cooperation and enthusiasm, motivate allies, conduct negotiations, and outsmart enemies. He tends to shift between acting as a ditzy airhead when it suits him (such as to avoid work or going into battle) and an intelligent manipulator. He is confident and is shown to have nerves of steel, even in the face of death.

He has frequently stated that his favourite drink is cola, and that he cannot handle alcohol.

Endou Mamoru is the captain of Raimon jr. High's Soccer team. He starts out as a goalie but also plays as libero later on. He is the type of person who never gives up and his teammates benefit from his mental strength and encouragement. Mamoru always thinks of others before himself. He also shows great admiration toward his grandfather Daisuke, which was also one of the greatest goalkeepers around when he was alive.
