The series' main protagonist, Ryūji is a seventeen-year-old high school student in his second year, class 2-C. Due to biological inheritance, his sanpaku eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent and causes many misunderstandings. He lives in a fatherless family with just his mother, and due to this, Ryūji has learned to be self-sufficient. He is good at cooking and keeps everything in his house clean (to the point of obsession), and also excels at sewing. He holds a crush on Minori Kushieda, a girl in his class. He has a pet, parakeet named "Inko-chan" ("inko" literally means "parakeet" in Japanese). Ryūji often helps Taiga with domestic chores which she is unable to perform. At school, he is known as "the only person able to stop the palmtop tiger", referring to Taiga's nickname. Due to the misunderstandings of his look, he tends to look down on himself and lacks self-confidence. Despite this, he is rather calm in most situations. He is responsible, smart and has great grades, even when compared to Yūsaku Kitamura, his best friend. He is dense when it comes to girls' feelings, especially about things between him, Taiga, Minori and Ami. His feelings and relationship to Taiga begin to change as he spends more time with her throughout the series.

A popular EAT-Class Meister partnered with twin weapons, Fire and Thunder. Rather hot blooded and direct, with a fiery soul and enough compassion to put his own life on the line for his friends.

Hodaka is a high school student of average build with medium length black hair and light brown eyes. He is often seen wearing a plain black t-shirt and jeans along with his yellow knapsack that he carries along everywhere he goes. Hodoka ran away from his parents and home to live a new life in Tokyo as his previous life was too "suffocating" for him. However, after arriving in Tokyo, he struggled to live the new life he was hoping for and was forced to live in manga cafes and in the streets. Fortunately, he met [Keisuke Suga](https://anilist.co/character/139707/Keisuke-Suga), a writer for a small editing company, who took him in as an employee and gave Hodoka a roof over his head.

Hodoka is a courageous boy as he was able to leave his home by himself and start a new life in Tokyo. Accompanying his courageous trait however is an impulsive nature which often leads him to make irrational choices that cause many misunderstandings.

He understands Kai and plays Vanguard with him. Unlike Kai, Miwa is friendly towards people and loves to joke around. He also attends Hitsue High School with Kai.

Hiroshi Satou is from the same class as Reita. He is the epitome of an ultimate normal guy, everything that Kusuo has ever wanted to be. Hiroshi was first introduced as someone who gets the same rank in school as Kusuo. Someone who has boring name, common appearance, average in brains and body and has no single quality to stand out. He blends into the background, so the other characters tend to lose sight of him. Hiroshi has his own circle of friends: a chubby guy and a skinny glasses guy.

He is completely average in everything he does. His grades, height, and weight are exactly average. Down to the millisecond, Hiroshi is timed to have the exact average times for the PE evaluation. He is also noted to go to the bathroom for the average amount of time and use the average amount of toilet paper.

Helbram is a Holy Knight, Geera's master, and the subordinate of the Great Holy Knight, Hendricksen.

He wears a set of copper-colored full body armor, adorning it with a purple coat on top. He usually covers his face with a unique helm with a skyblue crest on it. Helbram has a serious personality, but also a playful side, which is seen when he jokes that Meliodas' decoration of Geera's face was not very bad. Helbram was also shown to like doing research, even taking notes during battle.
