North Kaio (北の界王, Kita no Kaiō?) (English dubs: King Kai, North Kai) is the Kaio of the quadrant of the galaxy where the planets Earth and Namek reside. In the English manga, he is also known as Kaiô-sama or Lord of the Worlds. Claiming himself to be very humorous; he will only teach his subordinates if they laugh at his non-comedic jokes (really bad puns in the original Japanese). He can only train those who can reach the end of Snakeway. He trained Goku, who succeeded in doing so and taught him very powerful techniques that have been essential to many of his battles: including the Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb in English dubs) and the Kaio Ken. Sometimes it is hinted that the creation of his "bad" personality had the influence of some external force, although nothing was clearly stated.  When it takes the control of Saga's body, his hair turn from blond to jet-black (the color schemes were altered for the anime, in which Saga's normally blue hair turned light grey). Aries Shion is a fictional character from the manga series, Saint Seiya, authored by Masami Kurumada, later adapted to anime.  Shion is the original Grand Pope of Sanctuary, as well as one of the remaining survivors of the Holy War from the 1800s. He also served as the master of Aries Mu, who would eventually inherit the Gold Cloth of Aries from him.  Shion is one of last survivors of the race that inhabited the lost continent Lemuria (also called Mu). Due to this, he has a life span much larger than that of a normal human, what allowed him to live more than two hundred years. The Cat King is fat and deranged and is instantly devoted to Haru and quickly becomes over-protective of her and refuses to listen to her protests at marrying Lune. When she tries to escape he gives chase, seemingly oblivious to her unwillingness to go through with the wedding.

The adversary of the main characters. He "simply the governor of a small region like Owari." But, as is revealed during the showdown between Mori Ranmaru and Ayame in the third part of the OVA series, "Flames of Anger", Ranmaru gave him control of the Host of Oboro and the power of the "black demon god." He rules over the host of Oboro, the three-headed monster (who destroys Ayame, Sakon, and Ryoma's villages). At the end he becomes the "black demon god", but is vanquished by the combined efforts of Ayame, Sakon, and Ryoma and their respective Swords of Sorcery. Oda didn't know he was Oboro. He was killed by Ayame, Sakon, and Ryoma.
