Mitsuru specializes in close combat, using his ultra-destructive punching power as his main weapon. He is characterized as large cyclops with a long sledge hammer, just like his nickname. When coupled with the speed of his AT, Mitsuru's punches result in damage of diabolical proportions. During the Behemoth VS Kogarasumaru challenge, he fought Ikki and was thoroughly defeated. Mitsuru clearly has far more punching power, but Ikki was able to beat him by playing a form of paper, rock, scissors. Due to the amount of muscle on Mitsuru's forarms, the speed of his fingers is slightly reduced which gave Ikki enough time to react to his choice accordingly. With support from the British and French representatives, he arranged a meeting with Saigo Takamori in Edo to negotiate for peace on behalf of the Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu. He, along with his brother, was tricked by the makers of Gintama into believing Gintama was a popular anime which would turn into a movie successful all over the world.  After the Shinyaku Benizakura-hen movie finished, he and his brother left, stating they would not again cooperate to make a movie out of the show.

Isao Kondo is the Commander of the Shinsengumi. When not working, he is the stalker of [Tae Shimura](https://anilist.co/character/2944), earning him the nickname Gorilla-stalker. His superior is [Katakuriko Matsudaira](https://anilist.co/character/5972), a high-ranking government officer under direct control of the Bakufu. Even though the Shinsengumi are loyal to Kondo, he often has to use Vice Commander [Toshiro Hijikata](https://anilist.co/character/2650) to settle them down (with harsh words or use of violence) before conducting a speech. Kondo is good friends with Toshiro and [Sougo Okita](https://anilist.co/character/2282), and if one of them ever strayed, then the other two would punch him back to where he belongs, as Kondo once told Sougo. Sougo also often remarks that Kondo's nice-guy attitude is also his weakness as he never notices negative points about other people. In the Mutiny arc, he was described by [Kamotaro Ito](https://anilist.co/character/11458) as honest, pure and unsullied. In the same arc, Toshiro described him as the soul of the Shinsengumi, and the rest of them being the sword that protects him. Toshiro also said that everybody joined the Shinsengumi so that they could be with Kondo, and that as long as he was there, the Shinsengumi would not be finished.

When Kondo once asked Tae Shimura whether she would still love her boyfriend if he had a hairy butt. She became the target of his stalking when she replied that she would love her boyfriend just as much, hairy butt and all. Being a stalker of Tae, Kondo is often seen getting beat up or threatened by her, as she highly disapproves of his stalking and affection towards her. In the Yagyuu arc, Kondo had his mind set on being [Shinpachi Shimura](https://anilist.co/character/673)'s brother-in-law, even going as far as saying Shinpachi was the only one he could entrust the Shinsengumi to, much to Shinpachi's annoyance, answering that he doesn't give a damn about the Shinsengumi.

During his childhood, Kondo was a member of a dojo in Bushuu. There, he would soon meet Sougo and Toshiro, recruiting them both into his dojo. Kondo would later on take all the members with him and move from Bushuu to Edo in search for success, becoming what is now the Shinsengumi. Some characters in the series often call him "gorilla" due to his hirsute nature and although he is angered with this nickname, he sometimes uses the same word to identify himself. Kondo is loosely based on the historical Kondo Isami, famed for his role as commander of the Shinsengumi during the Bakumatsu period.

Mentor to the Old Jouishishi members in their youth.  Trained Sakata Gintoki, Katsura Kotarou and Takasugi Shinsuke in swordskills and the bushido. He died before the Gintama storyline started.

Golgo 13 is described as a mystery man of undetermined origin, possibility being at least part Japanese, who takes any assignment for any employer (it has been said he has worked for the CIA and the KGB) as long as the right price is given and will always fulfill his contracts, even if he has two or more opposing contracts at the same time. He is an uncanny sharpshooter, with near 100% accuracy and capable of lethal trick shooting, and regularly uses a customized, scoped M-16 rifle in his assassinations. He also is a heavy smoker of cigars.

The title character, Guin is a mysterious warrior with the head of a leopard. He stumbles upon Remus and Rinda being attacked by soldiers and defeats the entire unit singlehandedly. He remembers nothing of his past, knowing only his fighting instincts, what he believes is his name, and a word: Aurra. Guin is often put in position where he will suddenly have a skill he doesn't know he has. As of Vol 4 of the novels, he starts to realize that he really is part of the Destiny reshaping the land. He's inhumanly strong and knowledgeable about battle stratagies, causing the Mongauli army to fear and respect him as a warrior, as he often will set up battle scenarios and jump into battle himself with inhuman skill.

Master Chief Petty Officer of the UNSC Navy, John-117 is a SPARTAN-II Commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. John was taken away from his homeworld Eridanus II and trained to become a Spartan from the age of six. He and 32 other recruits passed SPARTAN-II program. In the process he was augmented mechanically and biologically.

Barely anyone calls him &quot;John&quot; except for Dr Halsey (AKA Cortana).

The second of the four Hokuto brothers. A pacifist who seeks to use Hokuto Shinken as a healing art, Toki's self-made technique of Hokuto Ujō Ken (北斗有情拳, Hokuto Ujō Ken? "North Star Humane Fist") is an art adept at both healing and destroying. When he kills someone with his style, his adversaries actually die while feeling great euphoria and pleasure instead of horrifying pain. According to Ken, Toki had the most elegant style of the four brothers and was favored successor to the Hokuto Shinken style.

During the war, Toki was exposed to the nuclear fallout while forced-shutting the jammed doors of the bomb shelter that Ken and Yuria were in. Toki survived for two weeks without food and water, but the nuclear exposure turned his hair white and left him terminally ill. Thus, Toki renounces the succession to the Hokuto Shinken style and becomes a wandering doctor, easing the people's ills. Toki wanders into a village full of sick people and heals everyone there. The village became known as the "Village of Miracles" and Toki becomes heralded as a miracle maker.

However, Toki is taken captive by Raoh's army and imprisoned at Cassandra, while Amiba impersonates him in an attempt to tarnish Toki's reputation. Kenshiro rescues him from Cassandra and Toki joins him in his battle against Raoh.

Toki and Raoh are later revealed to be actual blood brothers; Raoh and Toki were orphaned when they were children and adopted by Ryuken, who was seeking a student to train. Originally, Ryuken only trained Raoh, while Toki watched on. When a hunter killed Toki's pet dog (a parrot in the TV series), Toki demonstrates his fighting ability by pummeling the hunter relentlessly. Realizing that Toki has learned to fight by merely watching his brother, Ryuken began training Toki as well. At that point, Raoh made Toki promise that if he ever followed the wrong path, Toki would try to stop him. Toki attempts to fulfill his promise as an adult, seeking to stop Raoh from using Hokuto Shinken for his own gain. However, the now-weakened Toki is easily outclassed and defeated by Raoh.

~!Toki later dies from his illness after a confrontation with Ryuga, a General in Raoh's army, and tells Kenshiro to "turn his sorrow into anger" before dying. Toki, along with Raoh and Kenshiro, is later revealed to be from the Land of Asura, where he has two additional blood siblings named Kaioh and Sayaka.!~

Sorinozuka is an Ittan-momen youkai and his partner is Yukinokouji, the yuki-onna. He has several tattoos and tanned skin. He gets along very well with Ririchiyo and considers her like a little sister to him, because of that, Soushi respectfully calls him "brother".   Manga spoilers  ~! He survives the demon raid and is the only one who doesn't die.  -Second arc- 23 years later He is 41 years old. The only one to survive out of the whole cast.   He has been patiently waiting for the others to reincarnate along with investigating about the incident 23 years ago.   He got married with a normal girl and had a child with her. However, his relationship failed due to his loneliness and guilt over the others' death, and now he lives alone in his apartment with a 14-year-old Nobara.   He is working alongside Natsume, Karuta, and Kagerou in fixing their current situation.  -Third arc- In the current timeline, he is with Kotaru when the latter discovers the time capsule sent by their reincarnations from the future.!~

Once gave up his own domain in order not to wage war against the Testament Union, and now the present king of Mushashi.
