L Lawliet is a world-renowned detective who takes on the challenge of catching Kira. In his investigation, L becomes suspicious of [Light Yagami](https://anilist.co/character/80/Light-Yagami) and makes it his goal to prove that Light is Kira. L is very secretive and only communicates with the world through his assistant, [Watari](https://anilist.co/character/2179/Quillsh-Wammy). He never shows his face to the world in person, instead, representing himself with a capital letter L.

L is highly intelligent, though his disheveled and languid appearance masks his great powers of deduction, and many question his abilities upon viewing him. L tends to second-guess everything he is presented with and is extremely meticulous and analytical. He is good at deceiving his opponents and is willing to take drastic measures to solve a case. He is also shown to have a dry sense of humor, and he isn't above making sarcastic remarks to people. Although he tends to be polite to some, L can seem condescending at times.

L has several quirks, such as preferring to crouch rather than sit, eating only sweet foods, and holding items by using only a thumb and a finger. He is often seen arranging objects and very intently stacking, or in other ways playing with, his staple food items. L is almost always encountered while performing actions that are considered inappropriate or rude in public. These actions/habits include biting fingernails, placing feet on furniture, slouching, chewing with an open mouth, talking with his mouth full, and calling out personal observations that may offend others.

The series centers around him, his fate, and the efforts of his friends to fulfill the wishes of a letter from the future.

Kakeru is initially shown to be quiet and reserved, however, once Hiroto Suwa and the others invite him to join them on their walk home and hang out with him more, he seems to open up and enjoy himself. He enjoys video games. Though he puts up a happy front around his friends and family, he hides his true feelings often and is incredibly depressed over his mother's death/suicide, in which he blames himself for it happening. As the story progresses, he finally lets some of his feelings loose to Hiroto Suwa and Naho Takamiya, though even after the incident, he seems to still believe his feelings are only a burden to others. He is also very hard on himself on a consistent basis. He claims to think about killing himself every day. He is also a skilled runner and is the fastest runner in his class.

Takeshi appeared primarily as an opponent to Satoshi in his debut episode; unlike later Gym Leaders, he requested to join Satoshi on his journey, aiming to be the world's greatest Pokémon Breeder.

Takeshi mainly provides an advisory role to the other main characters of the anime, being several years older than the rest of them. His knowledge of Pokémon battles is great, causing him to often referee matches between Satoshi and others. Takeshi also fancies himself as something of a ladies' man, though each time he hits on someone he is either rejected outright; pulled away by Kasumi or Masato; or, more recently, Poison Jabbed by his Gureggru.

He is a shy and caring dealer by nature, though he rarely shows his real face except to those he trusts. Adept at trickery, he is capable of reading minds and conjuring energy in numerous forms. Wizarmon has several physical qualities that make his appearance enigmatic and mystical. He wears ragged clothes, wears a pointed steeple hat, and can create fear gas.

Having undergone the customary training of CP9 agents, he is a calm and collected individual, seen with the casual way he spoke with Franky when they fought. Nonetheless, he is not above displaying his emotions, such as anger at being tricked, fear in the face of inevitable pain, or exasperation in the face of Franky's antics.
