Originally named "Okatana Yoshimitsu" (御刀吉光), Ichigo Hitofuri once belonged to the Asakura clan of Echizen province until the family was destroyed in 1573 during the course of Oda Nobunaga’s seizure of power, which transferred its ownership to the Mōri clan. On the 18th of September 1590, Toyotomi Hideyoshi visited the Mōri estate and the sword was given to him. Toyotomi Hideyoshi wanted to wear Ichigo Hitofuri by all means and ordered the blade to be shortened to match his rather short height.

Ichigo Hitofuri was damaged in the summer of 1615 during the Siege of Osaka at Osaka Castle and then re-tempered by Yasutsugu under the order of Tokugawa Ieyasu. However, Ieyasu didn’t get the chance to use this sword because he was advised by the Priest Tenkai to avoid sending Hideyoshi’s swords (including Ichigo Hitofuri) to Edo. Ichigo Hitofuri remained in possession of the Owari branch of the Tokugawa until Tokugawa Mochinaga presented the sword to Emperor Koumei on January 29th, 1863 and it has been an Imperial treasure since that time, alongside Tsurumaru Kuninaga, Uguisumaru and Hirano Toushirou.

He is known to be a kind person, he is calm and he often helps other people and is always ready to do so; like helping [Aika](https://anilist.co/character/131536) to become popular. Although he is a little dense when it comes to romance and the girls' feelings around him, he is strong-minded and has a friendly disposition, which results in the girls becoming attracted to him. He also has a strong work ethic and takes everything in stride. 

Tsumugi once participated in student plays, but after a particular incident, he lost confidence in his acting and gave up on his journey to become an actor. But in the end, he got back on his feet and joined the Mankai Company to pursue his dream once again. He is the leader of the Winter Troupe. Although he is a gentle person, he can be timid. He was childhood friends with Tasuku. They were part of the same university theatre circle and decided to strive to become actors together.

The sparkle of glass etching is his favourite part of the art, and he also loves the twinkle of ice sculptures Hikaru made. He often got involved in accidents that Kyosuke's clumsiness caused.
