Barret is a playable character in Final Fantasy VII. In Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Tifa takes care of his daughter (Marlene) while he travels the world searching for energy sources alternative to Mako. He appears to help fight Bahamut Sin.

An African-American soldier stationed in Japan at Misawa Air Base, near Hachinohe, Ozuma proves a difficult opponent for Ippo in the first round of the Rookie King Tournament. While fearsome in fights, Ozuma's usual personality is almost unnervingly polite and outgoing. He boxes in order to earn money for his gym, his coach and his training partners, whom he treats like his own family. Ozuma wields an explosive hook equal even to, if not better than, Takamura's. Masahiro Kobayashi is a retired Japanese voice actor and actor who is most known for portraying Barret Wallace in the Japanese versions of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII as well as portraying Teruaki Takeda in the tokusatsu film Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. He has also appeared in Seija No Koushin as Tatsuo Inose, Hajime No Ippo as Jason Ozuma and GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka as Hajime Hakamada.
