Ikki Tenryou (天領イッキ Tenryō Ikki), is a lively and easygoing boy, although a bit timid. At first Ikki is unable to afford a Medabot. But after finding a medal in a river, he manages to buy a model, which is named Metabee. However, the medal he found appears to be defective, as Metabee is stubborn and disobedient. In spite of this, a strong bond grows between them after several robattles. Though Ikki is not a full-fledged Medafighter, he gradually matures through the Robattles he engages in. Aiko, or Ai-chan, first appears as a transfer student from Osaka, which shows from her Osaka accent. Like a typical Osakan, Aiko is also very humorous and often cracks jokes. She's the smart aleck type of the group.   One important fact about Aiko is that she has a passion for sports, and is very athletic. She seems to fare better than her classmates and thus makes her popular in the sports department. The only sport she is weak at is swimming.  Aiko has no real love interest, but she shows affection for Leon of the FLAT4. Aiko's favorite color is blue, and her instrument is the harmonica. Kaya is a rich girl who gets an inheritance after her parents died. Kaya becomes sickly, and her caretaker Klahadore often tends to her. (Klahadore was found three years earlier by her father, practically dead on their doorstep. Kaya's father took pity and offered the man a job.) Secretly, the town liar--Usopp--climbs a tree outside her window and tells her tall tales that make her laugh and feel better. However, Klahadore is very disapproving of this and eventually kicks Usopp out and makes Kaya believe that he is a bad influence.

She has repeatedly shown as devious and strategic as well as not being above scheming, play-acting, or completely ruthless behavior to advance her position towards the object of her attention. Sylphiel is a shrine maiden from Sairaag who excels at white magic.  Black magic, however, is not her forte: a running gag occurs when she tries to cast an attack spell in combat, only to unleash either a small flaming carrot that only tickes the enemy, or flimsy ice arrows that fall under their own weight before reaching their target.  There is an exception to this: the Drag Slave. After meeting Lina, she underwent intensive training so she could also master this spell, hoping to catch Gourry's attention. The name "Miles Prower" is a pun on "miles per hour", a reference to the famed speed of the <i>Sonic the Hedgehog</i> series.
