Training with Genma at Jusenkyou in China, Ranma was thrown into a spring called Nyanniichuan. He emerged as a young girl, according with the spring's curse. When splashed with hot water, he changes back to a boy, but when splashed with cold to room temperature water, he turns into a girl again. As for our well-built 16-year-old hero/heroine, the martial arts is his life. He also possesses a rather large and easily wounded ego, believing his physical strength to be his only virtue. Whenever his pride is damaged, Ranma feels the need to rectify the situation, even when it's not necessarily in his best interest to do so.

Sarah Strange is a Canadian actress, known for work in a variety of American and Canadian television and film projects, most notably as Helen in the Canadian drama Da Vinci's Inquest. She is the original English voice of Ranma. However, she left after the Hard Battle season to pursue other interests and has since been replaced by Richard Cox starting the 4th season. She has played Sally's friend in the 1994 film "Little Women,"Lisa in an episode of The Outer Limits("Caught in the Act"), and has made a guest appearance on an episode of The X-Files.
