Shinpachi Shimura works under Gintoki to learn the ways of the samurai. He used to stay at his family's dōjo. However, it seems more like he's just trying to help Gintoki pay the rent than to learn. Shinpachi is the captain of the "Otsu's Imperial Guard," a pop singer's fan club.  Shinpachi meets Gintoki after Shinpachi was tripped by the ambassador of Planet Chatoran. Gintoki beats up the ambassador and his guards, not to stand up for Shinpachi, but to get revenge for his spilled parfait. Gintoki frames Shinpachi for the crime, which somehow led to him saving Shimura Tae (Otae), Shinpachi's sister, from becoming part of a brothel.  Despite his meek appearance, Shinpachi is a more than competent swordsman of his family's Kakidō-Ryu, the type of swordsmanship his dojo teaches.  In the character popularity poll, he was in 8th place.  His name is roughly based on Shinsengumi member Nagakura Shinpachi and comedian Ken Shimura.

The son of the shogun of Zipang who ran off to experience Windbloom as his sister had experienced it, disguising his identity to do so with the help of Sergay Wang, indicating that Sergay was probably the one who fell in love with Mai. He is strongly opposed to the system and use of the Otome as he does not believe in putting the weight of an entire nation on a single girl. The crest on his uniform is the same symbol associated with Mai and is probably a national/royal symbol. Both his name and Akira's are written in Kanji and in the Japanese style. The probable reason for this is because Zipang is based off of Japan. (Japan was originally called Cipango by the western world.) Note: Takumi's full "name" in Japanese, "Tokiha Takumi no Kami Tadayori", is his full title as the son of a shogun and not his actual whole name.

Kousuke Ueki is the main character in the series. He is in Class 1-C at Hinokuni Junior High School. Ueki&#039;s ability is given to him by Kobayashi (a.k.a. Mr. K), who is also Ueki&#039;s homeroom teacher. 
 ~!His level 2 power is to undo the opponent&#039;s power. He can use more than one sacred treasure weapon at the same time because of his given ability.!~    

Ueki is a genuinely kind person who is always trying to help people out. He is an unusually calm individual, and doesn&#039;t care about what happens to him. He can be found snoozing in class, letting children use him as a target for shooting soccer balls (or in one case, a surfboard) and also calling the police without panicking when he faces a gang of rowdy teenagers. He cares for people around him, even going as far as saving Robert Haydn from falling debris in the Dogura Mansion. He is a bit of a simpleton who constantly uses his ability against non-gifted, but that is because he just can&#039;t stand seeing these nasty folks defying his sense of justice. Even though he constantly loses his talents (and gains fairly useless ones when he wins), he believes that he can still make do by putting even more effort into succeeding. ~!Ueki is actually a heavenly being sent to Earth by his father in order to take part in this tournament. Being a heavenly being allows him powers beyond his tree-making skills. He is still training in the use of these powers.!~    

According to a short profile of the main characters of The Law of Ueki (published in the end of manga vol. 16 by the author), Ueki&#039;s hobbies include cleaning up his town. In the first volume of the manga, Ueki is seen planting trees in the town park. Despite his power to change trash into trees may look weak in the eyes of others, it is actually quite different from other powers. Other power-users only have the ability to change item A to item B; for example from beads to bombs and from water to fire. But Ueki&#039;s power is different in the sense when he changes trash into trees, part of the tree can become trash, which he can change into trees again. In other words, it is a repeatable cycle.    

Takumi is the little brother of Tokiha Mai.

At the start of the series, Lief is the son of a blacksmith who lives in the run down city of Del. He is (as Barda describes him)&#039;A young hot-head&#039; and spends his time roaming the streets and both tempting and dodging trouble. If you pay very close attention, you will be able to spot in the eighth book that Lief&#039;s hair is, in fact, dark. And if you pay special attention to Isle of the Dead (third book in The Dragons of Deltora series) you will find out that he is at least eighteen. As the son of the weapons merchant Junk, 15 year old Popp left his home in Rankaksu and decided to become an apprentice of Avan, training to become a magician. He is a specialist on fire spells, mainly those of the Mera (fire) type (Mera, Merami, and Merazoma), but as the story progresses, he learns more powerful spells such as Betan (a gravity pressure attack) and Medoroa (one of the most powerful spells). Popp begins as a coward who runs away from fights, but he later grows as a powerful character throughout the story and gains true courage. He falls in love with Maam as the story develops.

Coo is thirteen and the Major of the Black Gema Gema Gang. He is the physician of the group. He is Piyoko&#039;s childhood friend and is closest to her. Sometimes if food flies through the air he will jump up and catch it in his mouth in a dog-like manner. As the gang considers themselves a &quot;family&quot;, Coo is considered the &quot;brother&quot;. However, Piyoko thinks she is older than him, although she is only 8 while he is 13.  ~!Like his twin, Keel they spent their life on a space station with their parents. However when it was found out that the station would fall into the atmosphere and burn up- so he and his brother and their mother left- taking the only shuttle down to earth.  Their father chose to stay in the station to continue mapping the new earth (Since the “Hammer of Eden” changed the landscape so much). The shuttle caught fire and Teen and his mother were lost in the ocean (Keel having been ejected). Some time later, Teen was found by caption Gould, floating in the ocean and rescued.  He later served on Gould’s sub as an Adjutant. Even though he has an Aquaphobia - due to his experience before the crew found and saved him. Nicknamed the "Crusher" and a former member of Team Asteroid, Kyou is a cocky Vanguard player who mostly cares about himself, always hoping to surpass Ren and become the best player one day. He sometimes refers to himself in the third-person perspective as "The Great Kyou". As a result of him losing to Kai in the national tournament, Kyou was kicked off of Team Asteroid, leaving him bitter for revenge. At the following regional tournament, Kyou returns with his own group called Team Avengers to exact his revenge on Kai. Kyou uses a Spike Brothers deck; his ace cards are Sky Diver, General Seifried, and Demonic Lord, Dudley Emperor in season 2.

Tasuku Ryuenji is one of the characters featured in the anime adaptation of Future Card Buddyfight. He is a 7th grader at Aibo Academy. He is also a member of the Buddy Police, a crime-fighting group that protects the world from anyone who abuses the otherworldly powers of the monsters with his buddy Jackknife Dragon, he also hands out Core Deck Cases to people who draw Buddy Rares. His and Jackknife Dragon's buddy skill, Sky Circle, gives him the ability to fly. His core gadget is called "Star Pulser."

Shion Kiba is one of the main characters of the Cardfight!! Vanguard G. As the heir to the Kiba family fortune, he was brought up to be a man befitting the upper class. One day, his fencing classmate lost a card, which Shion accidentally destroyed. During a trip to a card shop to buy a replacement, he noticed a Blue Sky Knight, Altmile on sale. This was the catalyst for Shion becoming a cardfighter. His vanguard circle is blue. He is also the former rival of Chrono Shindou.

Magoroku Shido is one of the antagonists of the Future Card Buddyfight anime. He is a 9th grader at Aibo Academy and president of Aibo Academy's middle school student council. His test scores are among the school's best. He is a member of Disaster. Magoroku used Bluechase Dragon, Garg as his buddy while using a Danger World deck and Silver Dragon, Adelaide while using an Ancient World deck. As shown in Episode 40: The Terrifying Dragon World!, it is revealed that his original buddy monster is Death Ruler, Gallows and fights with a Darkness Dragon World deck. His core gadget was a red star, but after revealing his affiliation with Disaster, he switched to a Dark Core with the same design albeit black colored.
