A skilled carpenter/sculptor Jingoro, gets set up by his disciples and loses his right arm and his father in an "accident" during the reconstruction of the Edo Castle. A few decades later… Jingoro is continuing his journey of revenge with his partner “Sleeping Cat” and his weaponized prosthetic arm. People have come to call him Jingoro "Hidari," which means "left" in Japanese. 

Jingoro defeats all the foes that has betrayed him, but he learns that Tokugawa Shogunate was behind the murderous event. He searches for clues on who was behind the whole set up, and fights with an army of mechanical soldiers along the way. Finally he confronts the mastermind behind all the killings, but first, he must save the city of Edo by stopping the Edo Castle, now turned into a gigantic weapon of mass destruction!

A video work inspired by the "meaning, form and origin" of kanji, reinterpreted and archived using the technique of stop-motion animation. A project that began with the realization that it is the "likeness" drawn out by the imagination that is the essence of kanji.

Stories have been told of a legendary craftsman during the Edo-era, by the name of Jingoro Hidari. Today, sculptures accredited to Jingoro can be found throughout Japan, but his very existence is yet to be confirmed. Having lost his foster parent and right arm to the betrayal of his senior apprentices, Jingoro is on a journey of revenge with a mechanical prosthetic arm and his sidekick, “Sleeping Cat.” People soon came to call him Jingoro “Hidari” because of his ability to artfully use his carpentry tools with only his left arm (“hidari” means “left” in Japanese). Finally, Jingoro faces one of his adversaries “Inumaru” and the curtains rise on a fight to the death.

This is my report about a mysterious creature that "Watashi" found the year when normal came to a stop all around the globe. All over the world, people were forced to stay at home in the spring of the year, "Watashi" decided to stop commuting to the city and "Watashi" stayed home every day. One day, "Watashi" discovered mysterious traces in my garden. "Watashi" set up a camera to find out what it might be. My camera captured a dwarf about 15 cm tall. "Watashi" named it "Pukkulapottas" and become absorbed in searching for it. However, as the world gradually returned to normal.Pukkulapottas disappears from my sight. "Watashi" could no longer see Pukkulapottas Is what we see, all there is to truth? Through my experience with Pukkulapottas, "Watashi" wondered.

The film depicts the existence of barriers that man and beast cannot overcome. The stage is natural woodland close to a vllage in Japan, which is home to many small lives. This sad, yet gentle tale that unfolds in the beauty of nature.
