A spin-off set one year after the end of Persona 4, Naoto is asked to investigate the mysterious disappearances of two Yagakoro students by an old detective friend, Touko Aoi. There, she is partnered with Sousei Kurogami, a mechanical detective and a polar opposite to her in terms of personality and methodology. In their first encounter, she awakens to a new persona Amatsu Mikaboshi, which enables her to amplify Sousei's persona ability, Tsukuyomi. Together with Sousei, she discovers the Midnight Site, an anonymous site where judgment is passed on others by five judges named after figures in Japanese mythology—Uzume, Sarutahiko, Omoikane, Tajikarao, and Futotama.
However, it quickly becomes apparent that this case and another under Touko's supervision are related when one of the five judges turns up dead with ballistics pointing to a missing police officer's gun. Naoto and the others must discover the identity of the other judges to protect them and find out the culprit who seeks to kill them.

Following the plot of the game, it switches between the viewpoint of different characters as they face off against each other in the tournament. Commonly following the story from the viewpoint of Yu Narukami, Aigis, Yosuke Hanamura, Mitsuru Kirijo, and Naoto Shirogane as they face off against the other characters. Both Yosuke and Aigis face off against Shadow Labrys.

It consists primarily of short stories touching on the themes of day-to-day life of the main cast of the games. Topics covered are Yosuke Hanamura not quite being used to living in the countryside yet, the fact that good friends like Yukiko Amagi and Chie Satonaka can still be awkward in some respects with each other, and Nanako Dojima worrying over her busy father.

Based on Persona 4. Each chapter follows a member of the "Investigation Team" as they lead their lives in Inaba



Persona 4 takes place in a rural town named Inaba. There have been mysterious murders occurring whenever there was fog after heavy rain. There were also rumors about a channel on television airing only at midnight called Mayonaka TV, during which it is said that one can see his/her "other half" when staring at the TV screen. 
After hearing about a recent unsolved murder which occurred during the fog, the characters—Narukami, Chie, and Yosuke—discuss how each of them had attempted to watch the mysterious TV channel and witnessed the murder victim. The protagonist later realizes that during midnight when the channel is on, his body can phase into his television set as a gateway to enter another world infested with shadows. 
After discovering this, they all decide to explore. When first completely entering the world, dazed and confused, Narukami meets Teddie. Mayonaka TV and the town murders seem to have a connection. The murder victims may be merely victims of Mayonaka TV. Everyone decides that they will together try to solve the mysterious murders by exploring the hidden world of Mayonaka TV.
