Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters centers around the journey of the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who is trying to re-discover who he was many years ago, since he has lost his memories. With the help of a boy, Yugi Mutou, the one who awakened the spirit, and his friends, he battles many villains and adversaries. Many of the villains have been linked to the Nameless Pharaoh's past, due to the Millennium Puzzle he holds and many try to take the puzzle and his power away from him. 
The series focuses on the card game aspect of it and the main theme represented throughout the series is friendship.

It's been many duels since Yugi defeated Maxmilion Pegasus, the super-rich designer of the collectible card game "Duel Monsters." But Yako Tenma, Pegasus' protégé, has never forgiven Yugi for his master's horrible fate. To draw Yugi out, Yako kidnaps Anzu Mazaki and takes her to the heart of the Kaibacorp building, guarded by dozens of the world's most dangerous gamers! But Yako's true plan for Anzu is much worse than mere revenge...

A two-part prologue special to the movie Yu☆Gi☆Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions set between the end of the Yu☆Gi☆Oh! manga and the beginning of the movie.

It’s a multiple chapter serial by Masashi Satou, artist of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s manga. Unlike previous manga in V Jump, it will be a story intentionally including cards from the real card game.

The novelization contains four sections:
The first section covers Yuugi solving the Millennium Puzzle.
The second section covers Yuugi's first encounter with Seto Kaiba from the manga.
The third section covers the second encounter with Kaiba in Kaiba Land. It omits many areas that don't deal with the card game.
The fourth section is an original story, occurring only in the novel. Two weeks after Yuugi's battle with Kaiba in Kaiba Land, Yuugi gets a call from Kaiba, who tells him to meet for a Duel at the top floor of the KaibaCorp. Yuugi accepts, and when the duel begins, they use a special variation called the "Bingo Rule," which prevents the used of a specific card in each player's deck. Kaiba seems to be himself, but plays a different trump card, the "Automatic Giant."
Mokuba stumbles in on them, and tells Yuugi that Kaiba has not yet awoken from his catatonic state. It turns out that the Kaiba that Yuugi is playing against is a Cyber Kaiba, controlled by the KaibaCorp computer, and using all of Kaiba's memories.
Yuugi defeats the "Automatic Giant" and Kaiba with a card called "The Unknown Egg."

The manga is related to the Official Card Game, which is abbreviated as "OCG." The manga will center on Sky Striker Ace - Raye, who resolves to fight in order to protect her beloved family.

Yu-Gi-Oh! CARD GAME THE CHRONICLES is a monthly short-anime series showcasing Official Card Game-original card themes. It is an expansion of the demo reel of the same name released the previous year.

The Magical War Arc is the third story in the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories manga series. It is centered around the storyline of the cards "Endymion" and "Witchcrafter".
