Unkei is a member of HOLY, and is also the tallest member.  His Alter is called Mad Sprict.  Mad Sprict takes the form of a small billboard with multiple extensions with ball-point pens on the tip.  Mad Sprict projects illusions and brainwashes the victim into acting out whatever Unkei has written using Mad Script.  They are forced to follow Unkei's (self proclaimed) perfect script, and those the victim interacts with who are not under Mad Script's influence must follow the script in order to maintain the illusion.  Individuals with very strong mental prowess can break free of Unkei's illusions or enter/exit it without being written into the script.

A strange environmental phenomenon 22 years ago in the Kanazawa prefecture caused the land to split and protrude upwards reaching unprecedented heights, creating the secluded area known as The Lost Ground. Kazuma is a young mercenary who lives in the Lost Ground, looking for any work he can find to sustain his livelihood within the harsh environment. He is one of the few people that are gifted with the Alter ability, which allows him to plaster his right arm and torso with a metallic alloy. When this mercenary encounters HOLY, an order whose purpose is to suppress and capture what they call Native Alter Users, and one of the elite members of HOLY, Ryuho, an epic rivalry begins.<br><br>

Oh sure, the new health care is great, but the public ban on the use of swords has left a lot of defeated samurai with a difficult decision to make concerning their future career paths! This is especially true if, as in the case of Gintoki Sakata, they're not particularly inclined towards holding a day job, which is why Gintoki's opted for the freelance route, taking any job that's offered to him as long as the financial remuneration sounds right. Unfortunately, in a brave new world filled with stray bug-eyed monsters, upwardly mobile Yakuza and overly ambitious E.T. entrepreneurs, those jobs usually don't pay as well as they should for the pain, suffering and indignities endured!<br><br>
