Boddole Zer is the supreme commander of the 4,795,122-ship Boddole Zer Main Fleet belonging to the main antagonists, the Zentradi.    Golg Boddole Zer ordered his subordinate Britai Kridanik to track down and recover the Supervision Army spaceship which had crashlanded on Earth, thus starting Space War I. After the failures of Britai and his other subordinate Moruk Lap Lamiz to capture the SDF-1 Macross  and their subsequent &quot;cultural contamination&quot; by the miclones, Bodole Zer ordered all 4,795,122 ships in the Boddole Zer Main Fleet to fold to Earth  and destroy the SDF-1 Macross, the defecting Zentradi forces, and the Earth itself in 2010.  Boddole Zer was killed when his massive flagship was destroyed in an unorthodox tactic by the SDF-1 Macross, but not before he ordered the obliteration of the Earth&#039;s surface with less than one million human survivors in the Battle with the Boddole Zer Main Fleet.

In 1999, a giant alien spacecraft crash lands on South Ataria island. Humanity proceeds to attempt to rebuild this marvel, but political conflicts centered around the Macross result in a global war. After 10 years, the Unification Wars are finally over, the new Earth United Nations Government is in power, and work on the Macross is complete. 
 
On the day of the launching ceremony, its main cannon fires on its own, destroying an alien spacecraft. This fateful day marks the beginning of the war between the humans on the Macross and the Zentradi, a race of humanoid aliens of giant proportions.

A.D. 2009 - The human race is in the middle of a three-way war with a race of giant humanoid aliens called the Zentraedi (male) and Meltrandi (female). After executing a space fold that sent it and part of South Atalia Island to the edge of the Solar System, the space fortress Macross is on its way back to Earth. During a small skirmish with Zentraedi forces, young pilot Hikaru Ichijo rescues idol singer Lynn Minmay and their relationship develops as they're stranded somewhere within the ship. But shortly after returning to Macross City, Minmay is captured by the Zentraedi, and Hikaru and female officer Misa Hayase end up back on Earth - only to view the aftermath of the destruction of their civilization. Only a song discovered eons ago - along with Minmay's voice - can determine the outcome of the war.
