War of the Holy Grail - Pursuing the power of the "Holy Grail" which grants a miracle, this is a contest in which seven magi summon seven Heroic Spirits to compete for it. Merely recited in fragments in Fate/Stay Night, this is the Fourth War of the Holy Grail 10 years ago. The truth which unfolded behind the battle between Shir&#333;'s foster father, Rin's father, and the younger Kotomine Kirei, is finally revealed...

The stage: the city of Snowfield in the western U.S., far from Fuyuki. There, a "false Holy Grail War", quite unlike the original Holy Grail War, unfolds. There were those who had been keeping an eye on the auguries of the Holy Grail in Snowfield. According to an investigation by the Mage's Association, the Holy Grail War system in Snowfield was an imitation of the one in Fuyuki. What's more, the system was incomplete, leading to the exclusion of one of the seven classes and the selection of beings as Servants who ordinarily could not be summoned. It was, verily, a strange fake. As an organ of the U.S. government executes its various plots, the Servants are summoned one after another...

The plot of Fate/hollow ataraxia is based half a year after the events of Fate/stay night. Like its preceding counterpart, the story is set in Fuyuki City. Bazett Fraga McRemitz, a member of the Mages' Association and a master in the 5th Holy Grail War, wakes on the fourth day of the 5th Holy Grail war with a new servant, Avenger, and no memory of what happened to her beforehand. She and Avenger set off to fight and win the Holy Grail War. 
Meanwhile, Shirou Emiya lives a peaceful life with all his friends from the 5th Holy Grail War. After one of her experiments changes time and space, Rin Tohsaka leaves for the Mages' Association in England to fix things. The Servants sense a new danger while dark creatures appear soon afterward. Shirou, as a precaution, sets off to ensure nobody is in danger and instead finds himself frequently meeting a mysterious girl, Caren Ortensia. 
Both Bazett and Shirou find themselves in time loop that lasts four days, beginning of the fourth day of the 5th Holy Grail War. Each time they die or survive four days, they always awake on the first day of the loop aware of what has happened to them since the first time loop began. Determined to end the loop, Bazett, Avenger, and Shirou fight to discover the truth behind what's causing the endless four days.

As one of the Lords of the Clock Tower as well as the department head of the Modern Magecraft Theories department, Lord El-Melloi II holds yet another lecture for his diverse array of students. After the post-lecture meeting with other Clock Tower nobility, he throws out a few insults at the fellow Lords that are interested only in their internal power struggle, but he quickly receives a counter-curse in retaliation. On the following day, while in transit with his apprentice Gray, he notices a cat ran over by a car. It's the stray cat that frequently visited his room as of late. Ten years after facing defeat in the Fourth Holy Grail War, Waver Velvet, now Lord El Melloi II, teaches classes at the Clock Tower—the center of education for mages. However, his new status as "Lord" comes with a caveat: obey the orders of Reines, the younger sister of the deceased Kayneth El Melloi, until she is old enough to rule the House of El Melloi. 
 
Waver, along with his mysterious apprentice Gray, takes on a series of cases assigned by Reines and the Mages Association. With each case proving to be more complex than the last, could there be more to the Clock Tower than meets the eye, and what secrets does Reines hide?

Lord El-Melloi II and Gray visit Singapore in the summer for a lecture at its Clock Tower branch. In this country where diverse cultures blend, the two encounter a young man named Ergo. 
 Pursuing this enigmatic youth, the Six Sources of Atlas appear. 
What is the ancient experiment conducted by the Atlas Institute, the Wandering Sea Baldanders, and another magician? And what is the name of the God that El-Melloi II will come to question?

A letter is delivered to Lord El-Melloi II informing him of a Clock Tower reunion. One morning, as the reunion's date draws near, Lord El-Melloi II takes a look in the mirror and reels in shock. He is suddenly a full decade younger! Lord El-Melloi II has become Waver Velvet, his former self! Believing himself to be in the grip of a powerful, magically induced delusion, Lord El-Melloi II immediately begins investigating how this could have happened. On the day of the reunion, he makes his way to the gathering of his contemporaries, planning to confront whoever transformed his body and hoping to reveal their intentions. However, when Touko Aozaki arrives, things take a sudden turn...

Manaka Sajyou, an existence connected to Akasha, is unable to experience phenomena like change and surprise, so she wishes to attempt to "dream." She sends her consciousness through the backside of the World, beyond the end of the world, and into different time and space. She ends up in a labyrinth, hosting a variant Holy Grail War, featuring four Servants and Masters attempting to reach the bottom. Manaka possesses the body of a Master who had summoned a female King Arthur. Saber interacts with Manaka, while Manaka and the original Master see each other when looking into a mirror.
