A grand story of youth following the childhood friends that are as close as brothers. Mari Takato, the son of a German aristocrat and Japanese count, and Shingo Innami, the son of a doctor, are students at the all boys Jidouin Academy in the late Meiji era. A story spanning eras and continents, their journey is one of growth, friendship, and love.

Micole is a young French girl whose cousin, Leon, an up-and-coming painter, lives with her. One of Leon's paintings catches the eye of a wealthy art-loving gentleman, and he gets offered to study in Paris. Leon has always been rather delicate, but for some reason, his health begins to worsen even further once he arrives there...
