King of Fighters is a battle between the strongest teams of 3 in the world. The story revolves around Kyo Kusanagi one of Japan's team when they reach the end of the King of Fighters '95 tournament and what follows after they get back to Japan.

The four episodes are set in Southtown, the imaginary city well known to all fans as the stage of numerous death matches throughout the KOF series. Many past heroes of the saga make their appearance here, and the four plots intertwine to create a large-scale drama, that is also linked to the story of KOF Maximum Impact 2. 

Since ancient times, the Kusanagi clan opposes the Yagami, each one of them controlling the capacity of the divine flames. The rising generation does not make departures from the rule with Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami. Formerly, these two with Chizuru Kagura formed the "three instruments" who made it possible to overcome Yamata Orochi, a demon being that prevailed in time in the shape of a giant snake. The Corsican business when a called secret organization NESTS unloads clones of Kyo. The survival of humanity is once more threatened...

In a heavy-duty tournament, Team Fatal Fury ends up fighting against Team High School Girl. However, dark forces are watching them.

An evil orginization hosts a tournament to help further their plans to dominate the world.
