Two scientists—one intersex, the other a tribal priest—meet on a space station orbiting Io; but they have met before and are destined to meet again.

The game of "Asobi-dama" (Play ball) is popular in Timothy's school. In this game nine marbles are kept in a circle and struck by another marble. Timothy's classmates are amazed when he strikes 19 times in a row. After returning to home and practicing several times, he realizes that he can move the marbles on his own will.

Abe is a six-year-old boy. His mother's been ill and he works for the Peyton's instead of his mother. Some kids bully him and break a bottle of medicine that Abe's just bought for his mother. A young lady stops their fight. Knowing Abe doesn't have enough money to buy another bottle of medicine, she gives him a piece of earring. Yuji and Eucie were twin sisters whose bodies were joined together by a divine twist of fate. Yuji was the smart sister, while Eucie was the beautiful one. One day, at the age of 13, Yuji decided to have surgery to separate from Eucie in order to live life on her own. A collection of 10 masterpiece stories, including the title story. "Ragini," about a dreamy love song spun by a computer. "Manatsu no Yoru no Wakusei" is a one-act play between four men and four women on the lush garden planet Oberon.
