After being made fun of for singing her favorite song, Toyama Kasumi, a first year high school student, could no longer directly express herself. Spending her melancholic days, she is led by fate to meet a guitar and new friends. Together, they will form bonds.

Kasumi Toyama was enthralled by the stars as a young girl, so when she discovers a trail of star-shaped signs one day after transferring to a new school, she can't help but follow them. They lead her to a shop run by the grandmother of one of her new classmates, and Kasumi finds something that will change her life forever: a star-shaped guitar! And just like that, Kasumi knows that forming a band is her destiny. 
 
Of course, convincing Arisa and her grandmother to sell her the guitar won't be easy, and finding a group of other girls who want to become musicians will be even harder. But when a girl has stars in her eyes and a starbeat in her heart, there's nothing that will stop Kasumi from making her fantasies come true!

Toyama Kasumi, a first year high schooler with a shy personality, can no longer sing and express her emotions ever since she was made fun of her singing her favorite song. She is lonely and could not make friends even after entering high school. The only time she could show her emotions is through an exchange diary on her desk with a mysterious person named "Saaya" (サアヤ). Saaya seems to attend classes at a fixed time. 
 
On one of her melancholic days, Kasumi saw star-shaped stickers pointing to a direction which she followed and end up at a pawnshop where she found a star-shaped guitar named "Random Star." Seeing the guitar, Kasumi wants to change herself and "shoot for her dreams". 
 
Ichigaya Arisa, the girl she met at the pawnshop, offered Kasumi an alternative. Instead of buying the guitar, Kasumi will get the guitar in exchange of joining Arisa's game called "BanG_Dream!"
