She is a woodwind Instructor brought in by Noboru Taki to help with the Kitauji Concert Band on its path to the national competition. Her main instrument is flute, which she majored in, but she is also highly proficient in all other woodwind instruments. She is the youngest of the four instructors directing the band who is described as gentle with a sweet personality and her woodwind students describe her as a firm but good teacher.

As nice as she is outside of class, Niiyama is revealed to be as strict as Taki and Hashimoto during rehearsal and sectionals, setting extremely high standards for her students and forcing them to practice for hours every day.

Osamu is one of Satoru's primary school classmates.

Komugi is a blind girl who is a genius at Gung-gi, a fictional board game of Hunter x Hunter. She is introduced during the Chimera Ant arc and frequently plays Meruem, the Chimera Ant King, in Gung-Gi games. At first, she seems childish and selfish, and seemingly only wants to become a singer because being she finds being a model and actor is "boring". She speaks very rudely to her managers, degrading them and often firing them very quickly. Though she does what she does for the people, and her mother wants her to become a singer, so she is to please her. Angela wants her mother to finally accept her, and appears genuinely happy when people cheer for her debut song.

~!It is revealed that Dahlia is not her real mother, although Angela did not know this until Dahlia confessed it to her with their dying breath. Tao eventually tells her that he and Angela don't have real parents: they were genetically engineered by a professor who is now in prison for it. In Yusa's body she can also use her pyrokinetic ability meaning she can control fire at her will.

She had two friends, one nicknamed Sho. Sho was also in love with her. She remains at her sister's side helping her when she's in trouble.
