Kenji is a first-year rugby club member at Kanagawa High School. He encountered rugby on the day of the school's entrance ceremony. He's short, but has a huge competitive spirit.

Student of class 3-1 who belongs to the literature club. He's aiming to become a novelist and is inspired by Osamu Dazai & Natsume Soseki who are both Japanese novelists. He generally has a calm and composed attitude. He initially is too embarrassed to show his novels to other people, but upon learning Akane's love for running and openness to use embarrassment as a method of improving oneself, he begins to open up to that prospect. From early childhood, Kotarou has received instruction in the performance of traditional dance and festival music accompaniment, Hayashi, at a local Shinto shrine. ~!He secretly starts dating Akane, but later reveals this to Takumi.!~

~!When Akane is forced to move to Chiba due to her father's work, Kotarō tries to get into the same school as her, despite his parents' objections, but is unsuccessful. He is unable to see Akane off on her moving day, but publishes an online story promising to love her forever. Despite their long-distance relationship, they are shown to still get in contact and visit each other. The final shot at the end of the anime shows them married with a kid years later.!~

Hayato is the passionate leader of High×Joker, as well as the unit's guitarist. He also serves as a composer for the group along with [Jun Fuyumi](https://anilist.co/character/123620) as a lyricist. He is a very energetic and friendly boy who gets excited easily, but doesn't go too overboard. He is also a bit of a crybaby, having the tendency to cry when he is extremely happy, such as when he came in first during the 1st SideM Election. Hayato is always thinking of different ways on how to become popular, as this was his motivation for starting the light music club at his high school. Despite this, he never tries to upstage any of his fellow band members. As the leader, he has a strong sense of responsibility towards the rest of his band members. He always helps them out when they're troubled or if they're having trouble during practice.

Hayato is a boy of below average height with moss green hair and brown-hazel eyes. His most common outfit is his school uniform, a white button-up shirt with gray sweater-vest. His HighxJoker outfit features a long sleeved white shirt, a black tie, and an open red vest embroidered with the unit's logo.

Having survived five years on the Eastern Front and the Special Reconnaissance Mission, he is considered one of the most elite Processors alive. Among the Eighty-Six, he is known as the Reaper of the Eastern Front. His ability to hear the voices of the Legion allows him to locate the Legion without the use of detection systems like radar.

Born on May 19th in Republic Year 351, Shin lived with his family in the First Sector of the Republic before the war with the Giadian Empire began. It is implied he lived a sheltered life, surrounded by "only kindness and affection". He also appeared to have developed his extrasensory ability early on, hearing "voices that spoke without words" from his family.
