A member of Anko Team and is the team's driver. She is a quiet and gloomy girl who falls easily asleep, and hates mornings. She is also weak to certain conditions.  She is late to school everyday but is top of the class and can learn things almost instantly just by reading. She is a genius with a high level grade performance. But, due to her habitual tardiness in the morning she has insufficient credits, and so in exchange for credits, she is pursuing Sensha-do. She is childhood friends with [Saori Takebe](https://anilist.co/character/62941/Saori-Takebe). Mako lives with her aging and strict grandmother Hisako Reizei.

You may have heard of kung fu, but the girls at Oarai High School practice gun-fu—really, really BIG 75mm gun-fu, in fact. It's called Sensha-do, and it's the martial art of operating armored tanks! They take it seriously too, and since winning the national Sensha-do championship is such a huge deal at Oarai, they sometimes go to extreme ends in order to get the best students from Panzer class to sign up. Which is how Miho Nishizumi, who HATES operating tanks, gets drafted to join doomsday-driven driver Mako, even-triggered gunner Hana, highly receptive radio operator Saori and combustible tank-fangirl and loader Yukari as the incomparable Anko Team. They may not be on the half-track to fame and fortune, and maybe a few of them would rather shop for tank tops than become tops in tanks, but once their focus is locked and loaded, they're absolutely driven.

When the Ministry of Education goes back on its promise to keep Ooarai Girls Academy open, the task of saving the five-mile-long Academy Ship from the wreckers falls to Miho and her barely-seasoned tankery team. Tankathlon is a new form of tank sport gaining slowly gaining popularity among Senshado enthusiasts. While also involving tank battles, Tankathlon is distinguished by its lack of official oversight allowing any school with tanks to participate in a battle anywhere at any time, and a 10-ton weight restriction on tanks used, limiting battles to light tanks and tankettes.

Side-story taking place between the match against St. Gloriana and the beginning of the Senshadou Nationals. It centers around a training match not shown in the anime, between Ooarai Girls High School and the Maginot Girl's Academy.

One day at Oarai Girls High School, the five members of the Anglerfish Team are looking for a student named Jane, who belongs to the Agriculture Department, to deliver some documents of the Student Council.
