At the start of the series, Judau and his friends are poor junk dealers at the space colony of Shangri-La in Side 1. Judau is rather loudmouthed and straightfoward, but has a good heart and displays powerful Newtype abilities. He has a younger sister named Leina whom he cares very deeply for. Their parents moved to another colony to find work and they send money back to them.  While scavenging for junk one day, Judau comes across the escape pod of Titans pilot Yazan Gable, who managed to survive the Gryps Conflict that concluded Zeta Gundam. Discovering that the Argama was in port at the same colony, Yazan forcefully brings Judau and his friends along to help attack the ship.

A series of short films packaged with certain model kits and aired at conventions, the Gundam Evolve series chronicles a number of side-stories, alternative scenes, and even bonus omake from all around the Gundam canon. Featuring a mix of animation media—from traditional cels to 3-D CG rendering to even cel-shaded 2-D animation—these often 3-5 minute shorts cover such events as Domon Kasshu's training (and a bit of a romantic tift with Rain Mikamura) from G Gundam, Amuro Ray battling Quess Paraya from Char's Counterattack, Kamille Bidan training in the Gundam Mk.II from Zeta Gundam, and Canard Pars dueling Prayer Reverie from the Gundam SEED X Astray manga.

It is the year 0088 of the Universal Century in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. The badly damaged assault cruiser Argama docks at the run-down space colony of Shangri-La for much-needed repairs. While the Argama is in drydock, a young junk dealer named Judau Ashta sneaks aboard in an attempt to steal the Zeta Gundam. He wants to sell it in order to help his sister, but instead he finds himself coerced into joining the Argama’s crew. Unfortunately for Judau, the Argama is being pursued by a dedicated Neo Zeon officer named Mashymre Cello. In order to protect both his sister and himself, Judau must master the Argama’s newest mobile suit, the ZZ Gundam.

A collection of short parodies of the Mobile Suit Gundam saga. Episode 1 pokes fun at key events that occurred during the One Year War. In episode 2, Amuro, Kamille and Judau fight over who runs the better pension when Char comes in to crash their party. Episode 3 is the SD Olympics, an array of athletic events pitting man with mobile suit.

Mobile Suit SD Gundam Mk. II delivers with more tongue-in-cheek humor than the first series. In "The Rolling Colony Affair," a colony is hosting a cabaret show featuring the girls of Gundam. But the show turns disastrous when men and mobile suits go crazy over the girls, sending the colony rolling out of control. A parody of the videogame RPG genre, "Gundam Legend" has Amuro, Kamille and Judau sent on a perilous quest to rescue the princess of the Zeta Kingdom from Char Aznable and his vicious Zeon MS forces.

The Axis, which was supposed to have been struck by Camille, is still alive! Our new hero, Judau Ashta, gets into the super mobile suit "ZZ Gundam" and fights against them! 

In this story, set in Universal Century 0090, the Federation sends Amuro Ray to recruit Judau Ashta to help deal with a group of Zeon remnants. While this seems routine, the Zeons have uncovered what they call the "Giant God", namely the Ideon (which is never actually called Gigantis nor Ideon within the story). While investigating, Judau learns that the Zeons are planning on using Mineva Lao Zabi's Newtype powers to awaken the Giant God and get their revenge. This manga is non-canon.

Universal Century 0153. During the war between the League Militaire and the Zanscare Empire, Uso Ewin while alone on a reconnaissance mission happens upon the Zanscare Empire's Newtype squad, and finds himself blind-slighted by a Zoloat, and comes under attack by the mysterious Mobile Armor Zong. However he finds himself rescued by an old junk dealer Grey Stoke. The pilot of the Zolat, who was also rescued alongside Uso is revealed to be a young girl named Kamui Gian.


The manga consists of a series of individual stories, centered on the exploits of the Crossbone Vanguard during and three years after the end of the original series, with one exception; the first story is set during the One Year War and deals with Crossbone pilot Umon Samon's youth. The series also features the "return" of Grey Stork, the aged future version of Judau Ashta, who previously appeared in Hasegawa's V Gundam Sidestory manga.
