Maho Nishizumi is the older sister of [Miho Nishizumi](https://anilist.co/character/62939/Miho-Nishizumi) and daughter of [Shiho Nishizumi](https://anilist.co/character/74699/Shiho-Nishizumi). Maho is a third year student at Kuromorimine Girls Academy, overall tank commander Kuromorimine's Sensha-dō team, and the heiress to the Nishizumi family's style of Sensha-dō. Maho is a strict adherent to the Nishizumi Style of Sensha-dō, refusing to runaway from any battle and abiding by her mother's high expectations. After Miho's failure at the 62nd National High School Sensha-dō Tournament, Maho acts cold and distant from her sister though still attends her Sensha-dō matches.

You may have heard of kung fu, but the girls at Oarai High School practice gun-fu—really, really BIG 75mm gun-fu, in fact. It's called Sensha-do, and it's the martial art of operating armored tanks! They take it seriously too, and since winning the national Sensha-do championship is such a huge deal at Oarai, they sometimes go to extreme ends in order to get the best students from Panzer class to sign up. Which is how Miho Nishizumi, who HATES operating tanks, gets drafted to join doomsday-driven driver Mako, even-triggered gunner Hana, highly receptive radio operator Saori and combustible tank-fangirl and loader Yukari as the incomparable Anko Team. They may not be on the half-track to fame and fortune, and maybe a few of them would rather shop for tank tops than become tops in tanks, but once their focus is locked and loaded, they're absolutely driven.

When the Ministry of Education goes back on its promise to keep Ooarai Girls Academy open, the task of saving the five-mile-long Academy Ship from the wreckers falls to Miho and her barely-seasoned tankery team. Tankathlon is a new form of tank sport gaining slowly gaining popularity among Senshado enthusiasts. While also involving tank battles, Tankathlon is distinguished by its lack of official oversight allowing any school with tanks to participate in a battle anywhere at any time, and a 10-ton weight restriction on tanks used, limiting battles to light tanks and tankettes.
