This member of AKB0048 is the 13th person to take up the name of Atsuko Maeda.  She used to be quite awkward, but becoming center made her much more refined. She always does things her own way, and her actions are often a mystery. She is able to make the bioluminescent Kirara glow blindingly brightly.

The year is 0048, and in the wake of the great wars, all forms of entertainment have been banned by the dystopian and iron-gloved rule of the anti-music DES. To combat this threat to intergalactic harmony, a group of bold young women have resurrected the legendary J-Pop band AKB48 and formed an all new Band of Sisters - AKB0048! But these rocking rebels aren't simply singers! Trained in combat as well as choreography, these striking strike team members are equally at home in concert halls and in the trenches. The last remaining AKB0048 kenkyuusei, Shinonome Kanata, along with Maeda Atsuko the 13th, Oshima Yuko the 9th, and Kojima Haruna the 8th, have been selected for a mission to protect the costumes of the legendary costumes of the original AKB from the galactic phantom thief, Elixir! The four enroll as students in the academy where the costumes sleep. Up against the greatest thief in the galaxy, will they complete their mission?
