He is a student at Kaimei High School and the vice president of the Boys' Manga Club. He and [Saikawa](https://anilist.co/character/70805/) form the Sainon &amp; Magarfunkel mangaka duo (a pun of the famous folk rock duo Simon &amp; Garfunkel). Magata has an ongoing rivalry with Roman due to his belief that shounen manga is better than shoujo and appears to have the same ability as her to summon manga background effects in real life.  

At Kaimei High School, the Living Assistance Club (aka the Sket Brigade) was organized to help students with problems big or small. Most of the time, though, they hang out in their club room, bored, with only a few trivial problems floating in every once in a while. In spite of this, they still throw all their energy into solving these worries.
