She is a young scientist, who despite her outstanding intelligence, still reflects her age.

She loves sharks and snacks, and constantly modifies Nano Shinonome, whom she created, to add strange and unusual functions such as a machine gun right hand and a swiss roll dispensing arm. Nano, most of the time, is unaware of these modifications until they are first used. However, Hakase always refuses to remove the obvious wind-up key from Nano's back cause she thinks that it’s cute, despite Nano's requests to do so.

Nichijou primarily focuses on the daily antics of a trio of childhood friends—high school girls Mio Naganohara, Yuuko Aioi and Mai Minakami—whose stories soon intertwine with the young genius Hakase Shinonome, her robot caretaker Nano, and their talking cat Sakamoto. With every passing day, the lives of these six, as well as of the many people around them, experience both the calms of normal life and the insanity of the absurd. Walking to school, being bitten by a talking crow, spending time with friends, and watching the principal suplex a deer: they are all in a day's work in the extraordinary everyday lives of those in Nichijou.

Hiromi Konno is a Japanese voice actress and narrator from Hokkaido. She graduated from Faculty of Economics at Sapporo University. After leaving Marcus and Aoni-juku she is now affiliated with Aoni Production. 

Jad is an American voice actress and ADR director who works for Funimation and Sentai Filmworks. Her name is an acronym of her parents' names, Jimmy and David, and is pronounced as Jade. Her singing led to her first voice role in Sasami: Magical Girls Club as Eimi Mori, and her first major voice role was Masako Hara in Ghost Hunt. She graduated summa cum laude from Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2005.

While the title suggests a story of simple, everyday school life, the contents are more the opposite. The setting is a strange school where you may see the principal wrestle a deer or a robot's arm hide a rollcake. However there are still normal stories, like making a card castle or taking a test you didn't study for.
