Yozora Mikazuki is the founder, first member, and club president of the Neighbor's Club. Prideful and easily provoked by nature, Yozora detests "normals" and that is the reason why Yozora doesn't have any friends along with the fact that she's a natural loner. She also preferred to have an "air friend", whom she calls "Tomo-chan" but decided to make a club to make friends. She is a cruel and selfish black-haired girl who says she understands and respects bullying but resents being called a bully herself. Yozora's difficult personality drives away anyone who might wish to make friends with her before she meets Kodaka. She dislikes individuals who act friendly over their first interaction, a trait she also shares with Sena, due to the suspicion of treachery and betrayal in the end. Yozora is also very prone to depression whenever she's at a state of loss to the point where her pessimism gets the best of her. Still, Yozora is very selfless and is willing to throw away her reputation and even her very own safety to lend a helping hand to the people who share her pain and past experiences as a neglected loner. Yozora is very smart, she had high results on the semestral tests and even scored full marks on one of them (Modern Japanese). She also has quite a good understanding of people combined with mentioned intelligence and acting skills, which lets her effortlessly outsmart and manipulate her fellow club members. Yozora also has great leadership skills and she is good athletically too.

Yozora has a mild anti-social personality, she values privacy greatly and hence, dislikes parlors (which is the reason why she has kept her hair so long) and crowded areas (to the point where it will be nauseating for her). As such, Yozora dislikes talking about more sensitive matters like careers and romance. Yozora also claims to have a soft spot for children although her treatment towards Maria seems to indicate the opposite, though, she did that mainly because of Maria's haughtiness and rudeness towards Yozora when she wanted to use the chapel as a club-room. In Haganai CONNECT, it was revealed that she is looked up to by a boy (Wakagi Mitsuta) who often visits the bookshop she works at, where she is seen as an older sister figure. Whenever Mitsuta has trouble with school or something else, he will go and ask for her advice and Yozora will try to give what she thinks is the best, even if it regarding something she dislikes (romantic themes). Mitsuta is also Kobato's classmate and has a girlfriend named Miki.

A "what if" alternative version of the original story, on which the cast gets acquainted in a different manner. 
The basic premise is that Kodaka, a rude looking and easily misunderstood transfer student catches a glimpse from a conversation between Sena (the most popular girl on school) and "her friend" Renka (a character from a visual novel); after a short discussion followed, Sena decides to give it a try and make some friends with Kodaka's help. 
This is a tweak from the original premise, on which Kodaka catches Yozora speaking to her "air friend", and is Yozora the one who decides to start practicing how to make friends with Kodaka's help.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Shobo-n! is a spin-off comic series written by Kazehana Chiruwo and illustrated by Shirabi. It's a collection of oneshots focusing on the members of the Neighbor's Club and their relationships with each other.

The successor of Shobon, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Hiyori is a collection of oneshots about the Neighbor's Club's activities.
 
Through their adventures and misadventures, the Neighbors Club has become a tight-knit group of… what’s that word? People who hang out together, laugh and cry together, bond over their own ridiculous in-jokes, squabble, and plan nonevents. Not “friends” if these misfits could make friends, why would they be in the club in the first place? Or so they think! It seems outsiders may see things very differently. With no normal friends in sight, the club members continue to band together for both special and mundane occasions, whether it’s choosing Halloween costumes, making the first shrine visit of the new year, helping each other find work, or simply trying to recruit new members. There could even be a duel or two in store with this bunch, anything can happen!
